Plug Cutters - Set of 4

This set of plug cutters has been made to very tight tolerances and will produce extremely accurate and flawless plugs and dowels up to 25mm in length in both hardwoods and softwoods. They are manufactured from a special grade of high carbon steel which is extremely hard wearing and retains its hardness over prolonged use, resulting in a bit that will not deform under heat and which will always keep the same cutting geometry over its lifetime.

The simple but effective cutting geometry of the tool allows highly accurate diameter plugs or dowels to be cut with ease. The rim of the cutter finely scores the inner circumference of the hole, prior to the main cutter removing the stock. This ensures that there is minimal tearing of the wood fibres to leave extremely clean plugs. The geometry of the cutters ensures fast waste removal which in turn increases the rate at which you can produce the plugs. These plug cutters are normally used at low speeds between 200 and 500rpm to prevent the wood from scorching. The speed depends on size, with the larger diameter cutters being used at lower speeds.

They are designed for use in a drill press and have an overall length of 50mm with a total available depth of cut of 25mm. The 8mm round shanks are machined for concentricity and the set of cutters contains 6mm, 8mm, 10mm and 13mm plug cutting diameters. ©
