Product Details
The new nose geometry of these flat bits allows for clean and fast boring of hardwoods, softwoods and composite materials such as MDF and plywood. The head of the bit is back tapered which means that there is extra clearance for the removal of swarf and shavings the deeper that you drill, preventing clogging and overheating of the workpiece. The carbon steel cutting edge is designed to break up and slice the swarf into smaller pieces for faster removal.
The flat bits are made from high carbon steel which has been hardened to ensure a long service life and give the bits impressive cutting properties when compared to traditional steel flat bits. Flat bits are normally used at low speeds between 700 and 2000rpm to prevent the wood from scorching. The speed depends on size, with the larger diameter bits being used at lower speeds.
The shanks are hardened to prevent flexing ensuring a true cylindrical hole and feature a 1/4" hex head for use in screwdriver bit holders or direct in the jaws of a drill chuck. Supplied in a wooden presentation case, the 13 bits range from 6mm through to 25mm and measure 150mm in overall length. A 150mm extension bar completes the set allowing for deep drilling of beams and boards. These premium flat bits give an exceptional drilling performance and come with a lifetime warranty - if any bit fails due to a material or manufacturing defect it will be replaced free of charge. ©

Very happy with this set of comprehensive flat bits. Nicely presented in box to keep bits secure rather than searching for the one you want at the bottom of your toolbox.
