Made to very tight tolerances these cutters will produce extremely accurate and flawless plugs and tenons in both hardwoods and softwoods. They are manufactured from a special grade of high carbon steel which is extremely hard wearing and retains its hardness over prolonged use, resulting in a bit that will not deform under heat and which will always keep the same cutting geometry, over its lifetime.
The rim of the cutter finely scores the inner circumference of the hole, prior to five razor sharp cutting spurs removing the stock. This results in minimal fibre pull and tearing of the wood leaving extremely clean holes and plugs. The cutting edges are CNC ground which means less energy is required to cut the hole, in turn making cutting quicker, whilst ensuring a long cutter edge life. These plug cutters work perfectly with the premium forstner saw tooth bit range to create an exact match of plug to hole. The outer walls of the cutters are also CNC ground and fractionally back tapered to reduce friction and prevent binding.
They are designed for use in a drill press and have an overall length of 140mm with a total available depth of cut of 80mm.
