This premium performance rotary tool features a precision gear mechanism to ensure a rotational accuracy of +/- 0.001mm. The 170w soft-start motor, has variable speed control from 8000 to 35000rpm, is virtually vibration free and is extremely quiet in use. This multi tool can be used for prolonged periods when drilling, milling, grinding, polishing, cleaning and engraving and is suitable for jewellers, mechanics, model builders and electronic enthusiasts. The body of the tool features a non-slip soft grip to ensure a good purchase and all of the controls are at finger tip reach during operation.
The keyless chuck, 0.3 to 3.2mm, accepts a wide range of industry standard accessories. A hanging loop is used to connect the tool to the stand when coupled up to the flexible shaft . The 1 metre long flexible shaft has a plastic coated steel core and is fitted with a slim line hand piece. The stand is telescopic and expands to a maximum height of 600mm and will clamp on to any work surface up to 60mm thick.

Great tool every bit as good as a Dremel, I use a Dremel at workaid. The hanging stand and flexible extension make cleaning so much easier.

The tool is excellent. I can't compare it to a Dremel, as I've never used one, but I'm guessing, from the other reviews that the experience of using this is pretty much on a par with that. It seems great value for money, especially with the little stash of accessories included, not to mention the flexible extender for detailed work, and the stand for hanging it from when using the extender.
I was surprised at how much was contained in such a small package. I also like the fact that it comes in a nylon carry-case, rather than the usual plastic fare. Others may differ in this, but I like it because it looks nicer, and takes up less room. My one gripe, and I was very close to knocking a star off my review for this (but didn't, because I feel it's fairer to just review the quality of the actual product) is the same as that of other reviewers here: the lack of instructions. I'd never used a rotary tool in my life before this, so having to play the archaeologist, piecing it all together, hazarding guesses at what the various components and fittings do, is not quite what Id bargained for. However, that reservation aside (and please do sort that one out, Rutlands!), I absolutely love it. I've already used it for two projects. So, all in all, Rutlands has delivered again.

Many years ago I had and used a Dremel and while I'm sure that was an early model this is definitely superior and comes with accessories that elevate it even further. while I can't compare it to a modern Dremel I would guess it has to be at very least viable alternative and does not disappoint.

Rutlands have come up with the goods again. I purchased this one even though I have a older Dremmel. This is a complete kit with everything you need from engraving to shaping of wood or metals. You can't go wrong at the price either.

Burnt out out my last one so needed a replacement.Have to say that the package is very comprehensive.Everything needed is in a compact and lightweight canvass zipped case easy to store all parts safely.With the package comes a very useful lead prop keeping the power cord out of harms way when at work.The accessories are what are needed and secured in a plastic box for grinding polishing and engraving.In use the tool is well balanced and the motor seems powerful even under load.Good value for money

This is my second tool I have purchased. My first tool had problems with the flexi-drive but thanks to Rutland's no quibble guarantee, I was sent payment for a replacement.
I make bespoke carved walking sticks and mainly use the rotary tool for carving, to save me having to change bits, I keep both tools plugged in and use both in tandem. The tools are well built, very affordable and come with a no quibble 3 year guarantee. I would highly recommend this tool for serious carvers or hobbyists.

As usual fantastic quality, value (especially if bought on a daily deal) & quality. A great range of accessories & the clip on handle makes it a breeze to use. The router head is a nice addition as is the flexible shaft & it's all packed in a handy, strong carry/storage case. Why pay loads more for the well known branded one & also have to pay extra for the additional pieces. Delivery as usual is 2nd to none

Having purchased multiple Dremel rotary tools over the years. The latest one failed as the others before, looking for a cheaper alternative most of the offerings appeared to come from China with spotty reviews. Enter the Rutlands tool on a daily price drop that I couldn't refuse. Comes with more accessories than many others, I love the pistol grip addition. A Dremel version had been on my wish list for years but I was unwilling to pay their price. Cheaper alternative were available but past experience has taught me that this is usually money wasted UNTIL NOW.
Rutlands have again produced a quality item at a realistic price. The cardboard box it comes in is basic without any fancy printing but everything inside that box is pure quality.

Great quality tool again from Rutlands. It is very versatile and perfect for use on smaller delicate projects where more control is needed. I have used mine for over 6 months now and it still performs as it did out of the box.

A solid item that feels good in the hand. Nice and smooth in operation with a very progressive speed control. Personally, I didn't miss a detailed set of instructions. The 1m flexible shaft is a great addition for more delicate or intricate work.

I think I'll ultimately add a die grinder to my tools for more heavy duty tasks, but for the time being this does a good job of the shaping & texturing jobs I've asked of it.
As previous reviews have mentioned, the selection of bits that come with the tool is bewildering and without any form of explanation. This doesn't detract from the overall good value of the machine itself, however.
I found the flex shaft attachment to be underpowered, though it does work OK for detail work with smaller diameter cutters.
The additional grip handle is excellent and really makes a difference to the stability and ergonomics of the tool.
Overall a good beginner tool for those like myself that want an introduction to power carving without the expense of one of the established brands or more powerful machine.
