Product Details

Redesigned with an all new, all steel housing, this air filtration system has been specifically developed to remove fine dust out of the workshop's atmosphere. It features the latest advancement in filter technology which results in 98% of airborne particles of dust being filtered down to 5 micron and 86% being filtered down to 1 micron. Air in the workshop is drawn into the unit by a high power motor, that is extremely quiet in operation at 50dB to 60dB, even at maximum air flow speed. The air passes through an outer electrostatic fine filter and into the latest technology of pleated micro filters.

The air flow can be set to one of three speeds to suit the intensity of dust in the workshop, and the remote control and timer unit allows you to set the time and duration to filter the workshop. The timer function allows for the unit to continue to filter the air after leaving the workshop. With its high air flow this filtration system is designed for workshops with a room volume of approximately 150 cubic metres, which is the equivalent of a 12m long x 6m wide workshop.

The unit should ideally be positioned 2m off the ground and comes supplied with 4 mounting eyes and chain so that it can be hung from the rafters or you can simply position on a high shelf. Supplied with a remote control with batteries, electrostatic prefilter and main filter this machine is ready to go. There is no better way to silently clean and filter your workshop environment. Highly recommended. This air filtration system has a 3 year warranty and in the event that it fails due to a material or manufacturing defect the component will be replaced free of charge. ©

I managed to get the air filter at a discount but I would have gotten it at full price as it a great at its job

Dayle Page

Honestly couldnt be happier with this air filter, ive been holding off for it to come on sale praying and it did, soon as it was i bought, service was next to perfect come within 48 hours, it quiet in the workshop, yes can not wait to get using it. Thank you rutlands

Very good filter. I have a dust allergy to some wood species and MDF and needed to clean the air in my workshop. This filter really helps remove the microscopic particles that float about whenever I'm using my table saw or sanding. Its quiet, even on full speed and I use the time delay function to clean the air once I leave the shop. Very good value for the money. Thank you Rutlands.

Christopher Goode

Great air filtration system that performs superbly. It too a bit of playing around to get it in the right place in my workshop but i'm so happy and impressed with how well it works.
I have got mine sitting on a shelf as not got the headroom to use the hanging kit.
It would have got 5 stars from me if the remote didn't need to have direct line of sight to the back control panel but that is the only negative I can find in an excellent machine

Plagued by airborne dust when using certain machines this filter was just the job. Ordered on Wednesday delivered to the West Highlands of Scotland on Friday and is ready to use straight out of the box. Positioning is key with this machine as it is the size of a carry on suitcase and my workshop ceiling is quite low. Placed above my table saw (which generates quite a bit of dust despite being connected to an extractor) I can reach it to turn it on and avoid banging my head on the underside. The fitting kit is good (although I dispensed with the chains) and it operates brilliantly and makes a significant improvement to workshop air quality. Two further points on positioning; the power lead is quite short so it needs to be near a socket and the remote only works with a clear line of sight to the control panel. I had to move the unit twice before I found the sweet spot position to allow the benefits of the remote be best appreciated. Hence the 4 star rating. A good piece of kit at a reasonable cost.

I've been looking for a good air filter for a while but they seemed a little on the pricey side so I'd decided to go for a particular manufacturer, not sure if I'm allowed to mentioned it here. However, just as I was about to buy it that morning an email came advertising the Rutland Filter Unit. It's arrived and not only was it nearly a £100 cheaper that the one I was going for, it is also very quiet too, in comparison. It's a little heavier but once it is up that won't really make a difference. Thank you Rutland for some great kit!

I bought two of these units for my workshop and machine room. so far very good and quiet. timer facility and remote are good. both are ceiling hung and have made a big improvement in removing the fine particulate that used to hang in the air. good value and so far excellent.

Phil Skinner

I put this in the machine end of the workshop. I have had to put it on its side as I have a low ceiling. It moves a lot of air and is quiet and so far it has cleared the air quickly. A few more details about hanging it up and the room it needs would have helped but comes with all the bits necessary. The timer is a useful function and it clears both ends quite happily when I open the doors between the 2 ends of the shop. Workshop is 30ft x 9ft. Appears well made and time will tell as to the expected life expectancy. Good purchase. My nose recommends it.

Fitted this to the ceiling of my 8m x 5m workshop. It certainly moves some air. The motor is quieter than expected and the filters made short work of the airborne dust. The timer is a great feature to leave the machine working when you finish. Well made with a host of useful features and highly recommended

As we know, dust is a real problem in any woodworking shop and despite having several dust extractors and wearing a mask I still find myself breathing in too much sawdust. I have been sceptical about fine dust filtration so it was with some reservations that I finally convinced myself to spend money put aside for tools on an this air filter. I had doubts I would be impressed.

So, am I?

This certainly shifts a lot of air. I mounted it on the ceiling about my saw bench and planer, with the outlet vent pointing towards the side where I stand but it was freezing so I turned it 180 degrees and it is now much better.

It is reasonably quiet and very well made. The timer function is very useful.

Early days but so far I am impressed.

Quick delivery as always from rutlands. Seems to work as it should. Only negatives are the timer function which can only be set for 1, 2, or 4 hours. Would have been nice to have a 30min setting. Also the range on the remote is only about 6metres which isn't great. Other than that it's a great addition to the workshop.

C Nellis

Great item. Seems to be built robustly. The filters are much more substantial than others I've purchased in the past (second filter has a sturdy plastic frame, not cardboard. The first stage filter is a card frame with the filter material reinforced with metal mesh behind). It's light enough to install hanging easily on your own. Quiet enough to work without it causing distraction or headache. Filters well- perhaps a little oversized for my needs (18X8 shed). Timer function is useful to leave it running after leaving the workshop. A note on Rutland's, ordered on a Thursday afternoon and it arrived by 11am on Friday. Brilliant service yet again, thanks.

Ric Cheadle

Prompt to arrive and easily set up. Decided to really 'de-dust' the workshop so wearing a ventilated mask stirred up the dust using a leaf blower pushing most out of the door and leaving the rest airborne for the unit to deal with overnight. Worked a treat. You'd be amazed (or, actually you probably wouldn't) just how much dust accumulates until you decide to get rid of it! Thoroughly recommended.

Paul Burton

Received it today all operational and wow what a difference. Thought it was a gimmick, however a must for all small workshops. Placed in the centre of my double garage and works great.

Anthony Simms

This is one of, if not the best pieces of equipment I have purchased from anywhere without a doubt. Once again the service and delivery were 1st class. Rutlands has now become my prime online supplier with a great range of products for most trades and crafts. The two stage filtration unit does just what it says, and is so easy to and with its remote control a real class act.

Mr Laacco

I've had the air filtheration system for a week now. I bought two of them because I guess they will work more efficiently together - and they do - but one unit to smaller spaces is also enough (I have 130 m3).

Consider this cheap - it cleans the air for you, it's easy to use, it's very quiet and I can use both of mine with a single remote control. My first week tasks included sanding and even with the festool-class dustremovement I got quite a bit of dust in these machines.

You can even consider adding third layout of air filteration fabric in the backside of the machine with tape. The included filters are quite expensive. Then, if you regularly clean that third filter, you're gonna have good fresh air and you will save some serious money.

Haven't used the timer yet, but that's for sure one great feature also. Every woodworker should have one or two of these in their workshop.

Dauphin

I cant believe what a difference this had made to my workshop , it really cleans up the dust not collected by the table saw extract.
My only complaint , the end wot collects the dust is the end you want to have to controls on [or a side]] as the rear end is the out end and backs up towards the wall or the open door . So a mirror is on the wall for the remote control to work.

John Lowrie

This arrived today, only two days from order. Very quick delivery and a big bonus of £70 off in the sale. It is bigger than I imagined but I don't think that is a bad thing. As my workshop is 16x8ftwith an apex roof I have had to place the unit on top of a tool cupboard at the far end. This gives me just over 6ft from the floor. If I had hung it from the roof I would have hit my head all the time. Time will tell whether this will do the job, but it certainly moves a large volume of air through it. The only criticism is that I have to be not more than 6ft from the unit for the remote to work. I do not think this is a problem though. As it "Beeps" on selection by remote, I will soon get used to what setting, time etc. I have chosen as I can't physically get round to see the back with the LED's. Time will tell if I made the right decision but looking good at the moment.

Tris

Great product.
The first unit i recieved had been damaged in transit!!
A quick email to Rutlands customer services and they had the damaged unit picked up and a new unit delivered in no time.
The dust this thing picks up is unbelievable.
I had to clean the filter after about 2 weeks and to think that dust would have been floating round the shop and contaminating my lungs there is a major difference on the settled dust after i return to the shop the next day after leaving it running for a hour when iv finished working.I wish i had of brought one years ago and it was on sale so was alot cheaper than anywhere else on the market.Iv had it up and running in the shop for about 4 months now and running for 8 hours every day and it has been brilliant. No issues with it at all so far.just clean the filter every couple of weeks or when you notice it discoloured and im sure it will give me years of service

Easily & quickly mounted,,, very quiet,,, perfect for my turning workshop.
Like everything I have bought from Rutlands it fits the bill perfectly.
A recommended product.

I bought this as a replacement for a Record Power model that arrived damaged from another supplier, apart from some cosmetic differences the unit appears to be the same. I bought it on an offer & it was considerably cheaper. I have fitted it into the roof of my shed which is 10 feet x 12 feet & it seems to be doing a great job of taking out airborne dust which despite extraction on all power tools always seem to be present. I particularly like being able to leave it running on the timer when I leave the workshop, there is a notable difference of dust on the surfaces when re entering the workshop.
Overall this a well built machine which seems to do a good job of extracting fine dust out of my workshop, I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone considering the purchase of a air cleaner. Remember every bit of dust extracted by this is dust that won't end up in your lungs.

lajac

Have had this filtration system up and running for 6 months. It's an excellent addition to dust control in my workshop. I have positioned my chip and dust extractor directly under the intake of the system which enables any micro dust particles exhausted by the chip extractor to be picked up by the filtrstion system.
I run a planner thicknesser, saw table. sliding mitre saw, router table, a couple of sanding machines, mortice machine and an assortment of electric hand tools which create untold amounts of dust which this filtration system is able to cope with in conjunction with several vacs attatched to the machines.
I particularly like the three speed option and the timing mechanism which allows me to leave it running for an hour after I've finished in the workshop
Oh, and I also cough less.

Mark Butler

A good value system with everything you need ( others charge extra for the suspending hooks and chains ). Hardly any noise even when on full power, the remote is very handy and easy to use.
Get one now your lungs will thank you.

Graham Alexander

This is a great unit light and easy to fit almost anywhere, works really well it cleaned up my shed no end (quite scary how much dust is created). I found the power cord a little short but was easy to replaice with a longer power cord. When working even at full power is still a lot quieter than most power tools etc, the manual is a little sparse so I've been vacuming the filters to extend their life not sure your supposed to do this but hey it works.

Bob Rolley

Like the other reviewer said it is quite frightening to see how much dust this filter collects. When you look around the workshop you can not see any dust. Yet switch the extractor on for 20 minutes (after cleaning out the filter) and there will be a couple of mm of dust in the outer filter. Do doubt this would have ended up in my lungs. Buy one you can't afford not to!

John Tillington

As a wood turner I use many species of exotic timbers. I am extremely careful when it comes to inhaling dust from these timbers. I wear my Trend Airshield mask when turning as it fits comfortably over my glasses. At the same time I use this remote control filter. It hangs directly above my lathe and I leave it to run for 30 minutes after I have left the workshop. It is surprising the volume of particles it collects. Very quiet running and very effective.

D Joyce

I set up the extractor yesterday afternoon and let it run for a couple of hours, to see if it would capture anything. It didn't appear to have that great a suction power so I was surprised to find a heavy layer of dust on the main filter. Quite frighting that so much dust was still airbourne as I had not sawn or planed wood for the past 24 hours.

James Macbrayne

I bought one of these units some time ago, but after a period during which it functioned perfectly well it latterly would only run at one of the three available speeds. Rutlands replaced it for me without charge, and this again worked well for perhaps just over a year before it also started to act up. Currently it has ceased to function at all. I wonder if Rutlands will publish this review, as they didn't publish my last one.
