Product Details
This precision gap gauge is a great tool to use for mortice & tenon joinery, dado & groove joinery, dado blade set up and more. The tool is designed so that the gap opening automatically changes with the spacing of the fingers and vice versa, which means whichever is measured the opposite end gives the corresponding mating joint dimension. By using the gap gauge, you are eliminating measuring errors as you are getting the precise corresponding dimensions of mating joints.
The gap gauge has a measuring range of 5mm to 40mm and is 30mm wide which is small enough for use in mortices but large enough to give a larger supporting surface on bigger joints for greater accuracy. To use, simply place the fingers inside joint, or the gap opening on the outside of a joint and open or close the gauge. Lock off the gauge using the knurled brass locking knob and the opposite end will automatically have the corresponding joint dimension. The gauge is made from aircraft grade aluminium and is beautifully finished in a black anodisation. The overall length of the gauge is 80mm and it comes with a lifetime warranty that in the event it should fail due to a material or manufacturing defect, will be replaced free of charge. ©

Ordered this as a basket filler because I liked the idea and I do a lot of mortice and tenon joinery when making furniture. I have found myself using it a lot in the workshop and I am very happy, well made and accurate too.
