This is the perfect tool for identifying metric and imperial thread pitch on both bolts and nuts. Each gauge is clearly marked in permanent bold typeface for quick identification of the size and thread pitch. One end of each gauge checks the nuts whilst bolts can be threaded in the other end. There are 14 imperial gauges and 12 metric gauges that are conveniently assembled onto lanyard wire loops that can be hung from a nail in the workshop for fast access.
The metric thread gauges includes nut and bolt sizes of M4x0.7, M5x0.8, M6x1.0, M7x1.0, M8x1.0, M8x1.25, M10x1.0, M10x1.25, M10x1.50, M12x1.25, M12x1.5, M12x1.75 and the imperial thread gauges include nut and bolt sizes of: 6-32, 8-32, 10-24, 10-32, 1/4-20, 1/4-28, 5/16-18, 5/16-24, 3/8-16, 3/8-24, 7/16-14, 7/16-20, 1/2-13 and 1/2-20. Purchased this just at the end of Christmas after a rather interesting email offer for the D161, which was a manufacturer's seconds. Regardless of the fact it was a manufacturer's seconds item, Ive been searching for a set of thread checkers for a while and by heck am I glad these came up. I'm a blind woodworker, sometimes I need to use particular fixings and the challenge is finding out what thread for a bolt or nut is needed. I've always felt embarrassed having to go to my nearest engineering suppliers to ask what thread certain components were, etc. Now I don't need to do that as the markings are tactile enough to feel and also readable by an orcam read scanner. I have a particular project going ahead where this tool is important and now, the weight is off my shoulders. As always, an amazing product and great service from Rutlands, shipped Tuesday 4th, arrived next day with attractive post lady. my new year stated well. I love how these are kept on straps, just what's needed and I can go through thread sizes without any headaches. You guys are the best.
