Product Details
A wheel marking gauge is undoubtedly one of the most used tools by all woodworkers. It ensures accurate marking on your workpiece and allows measurement transfer as opposed to taking repeated measurements which reduces any kind of error. Two precision brass cutting wheels cut the wood fibres cleanly, rather than tearing to prevent the marked line from wandering to give highly accurate lines, even on cross grain. The large rectangular face of the gauge gives a solid platform against the workpiece edge, to aid stability when marking. There are two independently adjustable stainless-steel rods, enabling precise mortice and tenon marking out, or you can set the two rods at different measurements and you can switch between them. One of the rods has a marking wheel with an inward facing bevel which pulls the face of the gauge against the stock, heightening the accuracy and ensuring a true parallel line.
The body of the gauge has been produced from a single piece of aircraft grade aluminium that is precision machined to ensure the face sit true to the workpiece. The face of the body of the gauge is considerably larger than conventional marking gauges and offers the benefit of greater stability and improved accuracy. The body has been beautifully finished by electrochemical anodisation making it corrosion and scratch resistant. The two brass knurled locking knobs secure and hold the stainless-steel rods in place until released, ensuring the measurements do not differ. The hardened brass blades are stored inside the face of the gauge for protection.
The rods measure 215mm in length with the face of the marking gauge measuring 85mm x 25mm. The marking gauge comes with a lifetime warranty - if any marking gauge fails due to a material or manufacturing defect it will be replaced free of charge. ©

Nicely made with a solid feel.

The marking gauge is really well though out. I like the design, it's nice a compact for my toolbag. The rectangular face is still large enough to be able to get a clean reference from your work piece. It feels really well made and good quality.
Derek Light
Undoubtedly the tool is of good quality but before you consider purchase compare the comparative difficulty of reading the scale on the dual marking gauge with the ease of reading the single marking gauge. The single Gauge is advertised black coated rod : the Dual gauge is advertised as "easy to read" - I was disappointed to return the dual Gauge.

I began woodworking a year ago using wood scraps to make toys and measured everything using a metal tape and squareness by eye. Over time I have realised how important it is to be accurate in measurement, squaring and marking. This marking gauge is brilliant in allowing me to accurately achieve the sizings I require. Combine this with great price and quality and it now forms a key part of my kit.

I am new to woodworking. I started out using old scraps of wood to make toys and measured everything using a tape measure and assessed squareness by eye. Since then I have realised that the result you achieve is only as good as the precision you are able to apply in your work. That means that accuracy in measurement, marking and squareness are all crucial in delivering the best result. This item has helped enormously in the accuracy of my work. I can use it on small and large work projects. It is absolutely crucial to the quality results I am getting. As ever the quality is unquestionable and the value great.

Use mine for marking out mortise and tenon joints
Tim Stainsby
Very, very good gauge. It is manufactured to a high standard which increases its accuracy. Very sharp cutting blades. The two arms mean I can transfer two measurements at once, making working twice as quick!
