Product Details
These folding knives are traditionally used for woodcarving and whittling and at one time every adult and child in Japan carried a knife like it. The gently curved blades are shaped like the iconic Samurai swords and feature a sharp tip that is perfect for marking out and detailing.
Made up from three layers, the blades feature a hardened, carbon steel core that forms the cutting edge which is flanked by a layer of soft iron on each side. This makes the blade stronger, more durable and easier to sharpen. Because the cutting edge is so hard, the blades will take an incredibly sharp edge. The blade on the knife is double bevelled for both left and right hand use and fold into the handle for secure storage. Overall length 170mm.
It is widely recognised that Japan offers some of the world's finest knives and cutting tools. The sword makers to the Samurai were the very best in their trade and their knowledge of metals and metal working has been handed down through the generations of master blacksmiths and is still in use today. These skills and knowledge of materials combine to produce blades that are harder, thinner, stronger and sharper than most western style pocket knives and for this reason Japanese pocket knives are truly outstanding in their quality and performance.

I wanted a simple folding knife, this is a simple folding knife with a blade taking an absolute razor edge, if you want a no nonsense cutting tool at a bargain price this fits the bill nicely

This is a great little knife. The blade keeps a decent edge for quite a while, and is easily sharpened when it does become dull. Just don't forget it's in your pocket (very easily done) when you go to the pub!

It's perfect for cutting tasks in the office, home, prepping food away from home, and other tasks where a really sharp blade is wanted. It is legal to carry in public in the UK (barring football matches, concerts etc) which is reassuring in the current climate. If you put some kind of ring through the hole then it can be suspended from one's belt or keyring with a bit of paracord or a leather lace.
This is the same brand as the black-handled folder and it's the best higonokami brand I've seen. Not all the higo makes are this good. The blade is easy to sharpen and if it loosens (which it can though continued opening and closing) then the rivet can be easily tightened by tapping with a small hammer on top of a piece of steel. Totally recommended and good value. Fast delivery from Rutlands.
