Previous reviews sum this item up well: sturdily built, easy to put together, will work with all but the heaviest machines - my Startrite 352E bandsaw probably near the limit. But the brake pedal problem (see earlier reviews) locks the swivelling wheels in the fore-and-aft position - irritating! Need to dig out a few M10 washers....

Very sturdy, well-made and easy to assemble. Although I needed a base a little larger than the stated maximum size I was able to use parts from another (I bought the 4 pack - great value) to make the exact dimensions I wanted. The castors are large and strong and move a heavy weight easily on my uneven garage floor. Really glad I bought these. Highly recommended.

These are deceptively strong bases. I mounted my Scheppach planer thicknesser on the first one I set up and my Axminster bandsaw on the second one. Takes some time to put together as they are basically a collection of heavy steel struts and nuts and bolts. Once fully tightened they are rock solid and when you push down on the wheel lock lever there is no moving them. Great value as they have freed up space in the shop. Only downside is you need to clear the shop floor of debri each time you move them. 10 out of 10 from me.

These arrived very well packed, looked like a Meccano set when i opened the box, however they went together well, look very robust.
One point you will need several different sockets/spanners when assembling.
Good product, helps with small workshops that you can move heavy equipment around with ease.

I have ordered a lot of things from Rutlands and been happy with everything I have ordered.
Regarding the mobile base I have got it on my 95Kg table saw. I had to put a couple of washers on each of the front swivel casters before attaching it to the bracket because when they swivel around the brake leavers would catch the bracket and stop them from swivelling. For a few pence it was a good fix when you consider a good heavy duty mobile base could cost you 2 to 3 times the price of this one. Very happy with this product and with next day delivery from Rutlands what more could you ask for.

Had thought about making my own mobile bases.. These changed my mind.. Good quality as usual from Rutlands.. Materials alone worked out equivalent or more.. Put your time in the equation and its a no brainer..

I watched New Yankee Workshop on Sky and it seems all American woodworkers use mobile bases. I don't know why because their home workshops are massive compared to ours. Any way I bought this set of 4 and have installed them on an Elektra Beckum planer, Kity spindle moulder, Scheppach saw bench and a Dewalt radial arm. All move around the workshop fine. You have to keep the floor shaving free though otherwise the wheels stick. Great value and would recommend.

An excellent piece of kit that enables you to make a non mobile piece of machinery (In my case a table saw) into a mobile piece. Very good quality fittings and very simple to put together.

One thing that needs considering:
1. As per the previous review I too found that the brake on the swivel wheels collides with the metal framework above it because not enough clearance has been left So I had to add 2 M10 washers per wheel between metal frame and wheel. No biggy but it is the little things.

As always another excellent product from Rutlands with a very fast delivery time.

A reasonably sturdy bit of kit. A couple of comments which maybe of use to others.
1. I found that the swivel casters were catching on the swivel corner bracket such that they got stuck underneath. I had to add 4 washers to pack each out.
2. The instructions state - always push on the base, never on the power tool or other item, when moving or repositioning the base. I think a reality check is needed here!

These are good value, especially the pack of four if you need several. Having said that I have pushed them to their limit with my table saw. It has a 23 x 17 inch cast iron top and heavy gauge sheet metal plinth down to floor level, so not full Wadkins size but heavy. Mounted on the base there is a definite "spring" if I push down on the saw, although this does not compromise its use. Most of this comes, I suspect, from the two cantilevers which carry the swivelling castors. To minimise this effect plan where the overlaps of the framework are positioned and if the weight distribution is not symmetrical, place the heavier side over the fixed castors. I may try wedging under the swivelling castor side of the framework. But it is great to be able to move my table saw without risking my back.

Anthony Whipp

Good value, easy to adjust. Castors did catch on the first build but a couple of penny washers sorted it out, on the bandsaw.
