Product Details

Our most popular set of marking and measuring tools containing a 160mm T square rule, a triangle square, a centre finder and a 45░ and 90░ marking square. The tools have been CNC machined from aircraft grade aluminium and have a black anodised finish which will protect them against scratches and make them durable. A crisp and clear metric scale has been laser etched onto the tools. The scales are highly precise and have been assured to +/- 0.001mm over 1m.

The T Rule is the most accurate way to draw straight, parallel lines at a precise distance from the edge of your workpiece. Simply lock the large T head of the rule against your workpiece edge, insert your pencil in any of the guide holes and smoothly glide the T rule against the edge to produce a perfectly straight and parallel line. The 15mm high T head will remain in constant contact with the edge to ensure that your drawn line is as required. The rule can be used to mark in 1mm increments from the edge of your workpiece. There are a series of 5 holes running across the rule every 5mm, with the first hole being the increment shown on the measuring scale. For example, if the first hole is next to the 10mm etching, the hole next to this is 11m and the next hole is 12mm and so on. Therefore, this rule measures from 5mm thorough to 160mm in 1mm increments. We would recommend using a 0.5mm fine pencil to achieve the best results when using this rule.

This triangle square has a multitude of uses in the workshop. It can be used for setting up machinery such as table saws or router table fences. It has a thick cross section so will stand unaided on your table surface to allow you to adjust your machinery with both hands. Easily set your machinery blade to either 45 or 90 degrees. The triangle can also be used as a clamping square when you need to guarantee a joint is at 90 degrees. Simply place the triangle into the corner and secure with clamp in the same way you would use a traditional clamping square.

The centre finder will accurately find the centre of your stock within seconds. Simply lock the centre finder against your stock and draw a bisecting line, then move the product around the circumference and draw another line. The centre is where the two lines intersect. Primarily used by woodturners to find the centre of their blanks or pre-turned stock, although any woodworker will find this centre finder useful.

The marking square allows you to transfer markings easily and accurately from one face of the wood to an adjacent face. Use the square to easily mark at 45 or 90 degrees - the most popular and widely used angles. The inner edge of both windows are both 15mm from the edge of the wood which allows you to easily scribe a line from the edge of your workpiece at this pre-set distance.

The tools come with a lifetime warranty - if any tool fails due to a material or manufacturing defect it will be replaced free of charge. ę

Ordered because they were on special offer, they arrived today and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. Quality and finish is first-class with proper use they will last a lifetime (they will outlast me for sure.) I would recommend these to any serious woodworker amateur or professional - some, like me, will find the full price puts them out of reach but keep an eye open for special offers.

Thomas Dunlop

Excellent quality very well made and very durable . The Finnish is tremendous and markings easy to read also makes marking off a breeze
In short simplifies and helps me marking out would recommend to anyone hobbyist or craftsman

Mike Porter

Great products. The usual very high quality items

James Carter-Jones

Excellent quality and very well finished in a lovely black anodising. The T rule is now my go-to rule in the workshop, its so clever. If you want to draw a line 53mm from your edge you go to the 50mm marker move up three holes and insert your pencil and draw your line. You can not go wrong and you know its accurate. Brilliant.

Liam Crafter

Superb quality products. I ordered from a Rutlands promotion on a spur of the moment. I am glad I did because each tool gets used daily. The centre finder is especially useful for finding the centre of my pen blanks.

Phillip

At the time of receiving the email advertising this, I thought it was one of those unneccesary items; but for some reason decided to order it; with the pencil. It has sat in the tool cupboard for some weeks unused. Today I had some fairly accurate marking out to do on some timber for drilling holes.
Remembering I had this in the cupboard, decided to give it a try. I should have done so much earlier. It saved all that measuring the distance from the 2 edges with a tape and then having to get the square marking the 2 lines to find the intersecting point. Much easier to put the pencil point in the appropriate hole, run the square done the edge to draw one line and then do the same on the other edge.
Result, a much easier job and far more accurate than using a tape. After all, the definition of a tool is something that makes work much easier. And a tool only has value when it is used. This one won't be sitting in the cupbard any longer, as I have finally discovered it's true value. I suggest you give it a try.

Very well built bit of kit, very accurate too. I use mine at least once a day at work, it is great for marking along the edge of sheet material

Mel Moran

great that you can insert a pencil into a slot and draw perfect lines every time

Paul Kimmens

Excellent piece of equipment. Very well made and great value for money

Brian Thorp

Very sturdy, well made and extremely accurate.

Mike Cordner

I make delicate and precise boxes. This allows for very accurate sizing for things like hinge pin locations.

Phillip

Having seen these advertised for a while and could not see any reason to buy; after all, I'd managed quite well with my engineers square for some years when setting 90 degrees on the planer fence, band saw table, mitre saw, marking out and so on. so when I did order this, I was not quite sure why I had done so. However having now got it, I am glad I did. It is used inall places where I previously used the Engineer's Square, only this is much easer to handle. Plus when setting the Mitre Saw at 45 Degrees, it is no-longer a case of using the scale on the saw;doing a few test cuts and making the fine adjustments. This does it right first time. It is yet another of those little things that I have been tempted by Rutlands, but make setting up and marking out much easier, quicker, and more importantly, more accurate. The product is of good quality and robust and therefore no reason why it should not last my lifetime.

Simon Hembury

This is just a block of aluminum but set at 45 and 90 degrees. It's dependable, accurate, stands up on it's own and is clearly marked - what else do you need?

Hans Toebes

Excellent quality. Good haptic properties too.
I use it for my band saw adjustment and for 90┬░ clamping as it is better than the ones I used before.

Bob Thompson

Excellent quality. I use when setting my planer beds to level, setting saw blades to 45┬░ and for general marking out of 90┬░. One of my most go to tools.

Arthur Bishop

I have an old Wadkin table saw and I use this square to ensure the blade is true to the bed. It is so easy to use as it is self standing allowing me to use both hands to adjust the blade angle and height. A very precisely machined square that is proving invaluable

Alex Bull

I ordered this from a rutlands promotion because it looked sexy as hell. When I opened the box I was not disappointed. Tested for squareness against my Starret square as well and it is perfect. Not just a thing of beauty.

Ken Smith

If you are just getting into pen turning (like me) then this is a must have. Can also be used on larger stock when turning but it has been very very useful when finding the centre of my pen blanks.

Sam Belter

Simple but effective

Peter Taylor

I was in two minds whether to buy this. It was an add on to some other tools I ordered and seemed a bit expensive for what it is but it is a brilliant little tool for marking out. The quality is fantastic and there are lots of permutations you can use it in where a normal set square might not fit.

Neil Turner

Always on the level. As usual Rutlands delivery the level best.

Tim Atkinson

Really useful piece of kit, well made and accurate also 15mm on internal cutout for speed of marking.good price too.

Roy Mauger

It looks simple, it is simple to use and it is simply superb!

Phillip

This is one of those devices where you think "Why should I buy that, it's just an unneccessay purchase, I don't need one and managed quite well without one todate" That precisely what I thought but for some reason did buy it. It definately makes marking out much easier, quicker, and slightly more accurate. Now given the option, I would not be without it.

Colin Ellis

I have a Shinwa version of this square which has been incredibly useful over the years, the only problem is that the material of the Shinwa is soft and I have cut into it with a marking knife when marking. I ordered this from one of Rultnads mailshots to try it out. It is every bit as accurate as the Shinwa version and appears to be made of stronger material - although I don't want to test it by cutting into it.
