Product Details
This premium aluminium angle drill guide offers ultra-smooth movement, is extremely precise and is free of play. It is a highly versatile and portable drill press that allows you to drill accurate holes anywhere and at any angle between +/- 60°. The sliding headstock is precision machined from aluminium and features two, 35mm long, linear bearings made from a hardened tool steel that allows the headstock to glide smoothly back and forth on the 300mm steel guide rods, without side movement.
A knurled brass knob locks the depth stop in position for drilling repetitive and precise depths, with a maximum travel of 240mm. The three jaw, 10mm geared chuck rotates on two sealed for life roller bearings to protect from dust ingress and features a 1/4" hex drive shaft for use with mains and cordless power drills. The cast aluminium base has a precision machined underside which is fitted with a no-mar polymer pad to prevent the surface of the workpiece from damage and to ensure a high friction, non slip base. The base has a large footprint of 170mm x 150mm to guarantee a stable, perfectly flat platform and features 4 mounting holes and a V notch for drilling round stock. The base has a wide aperture to accept drill bits up to 65mm, making the guide ideal for use with large diameter drill bits such as saw tooth and forstner bits.
Quadrants on each side of the base allow for the drilling angle to be accurately and securely set between +/-60° by rotating the two hand grips, and can be locked off at 90° for drilling perfectly perpendicular holes. The two main guide rods can be positioned to sit 25mm below the level of the base to allow for self-centering drilling when fitting a mortice lock into a door.
This is an exceptional well made drill guide with zero play, that will allow for the drilling of precise holes, at precise angles and to precise depths and has a lifetime warranty that in the event it should fail due to a material or manufacturing defect, it will be replaced free of charge. ©

Very nice tool. Precise, versatile with repeatable results, what is not to like about it.
Rob Williams
A nice solid, well made piece of kit. I looked at the cheaper model, and indeed the really cheap models on amazon, but very pleased I spent a bit more on this one from Rutlands. It really does feel like it's built to last. One slight improvement would be to have some form of housing within the tool for the Allen key which is needed for some of the functions. Other than that, all good. It should come in super handy.
Alan Brown
This is an excellent tool: sturdy, well made and accurate. It is easy to use and quite versatile - once you have it you will find more uses than you might first have thought of. A handy thing to have in the workshop.

Good guide. Very sturdily built

I bought this for drilling 35mm diameter holes in softwood at 45 degrees. I already have a cheaper version which proved to not be up to the job. This item is rock solid, accurate and smooth in use. I have only used it at an angle, but the self centring feature seems very useful. Very happy with my purchase

I had been looking at similar drill guides for a while but the generally had bad reviews and looked fairly flimsy. I'm confident I made the right choice with this item. It is robust, and the bushes and bearings seem to be really good quality. I like the extra features such as being able to extend the guide bars below the base to allow self centering. Really happy with this purchase.

brilliant peace of kit next best thing to a drill press and perfect for small workshops where space is a premium
Tom Carter
Far better than drilling free hand. Nice smooth movement down the bars and great for working with short bits as the chuck sit just 25mm above the worksurface. Depth stop concerned me at first as there is only one brass screw but it worked really well and hasn't slipped so far. Would have been nice to have a return spring but can not complain as the movement is so sweet. Some tools you buy because you think you might need them this one you really do use it. Very happy with this drill guide.
James Ramage
Excellent drill guide. I used it mainly in vertical mode but the other day needed to drill a 10mm hole at 30° and it worked a treat. Brilliant bit of kit.
Paul Jenkinson
Very well made and very precise drill stand. There is no side play when the head slides down the bars and there is no wobble on the chuck as its spindle is hosed in a long bearing. Really practical as you can use in the shop or on site.
