Product Details

TCT Router Bits
Each router bit features diamond ground, micro-grain tungsten carbide tipped blades. This tighter micro-grain structure means the blades offer long lasting hardness and superior edge retention. The body of each bit has been turned and then milled with uncompromising precision from a single piece of 4140 high tensile steel to give perfect balance for reduced vibration and therefore smoother cuts. 4140 steel has been chosen because of its toughness, high fatigue strength, and abrasion and impact resistance. The tungsten carbide tips are then brazed onto the bodies using induction to create an extremely strong joint that safely holds under the high stresses that occur when routing. The router bits are suitable for use on softwoods, hardwoods, veneers, laminates and composite materials.

Round Nosed Bits
Round nosed bits are used to produce round bottomed grooves for fluting and panelling, or concave edge moulding and other finishing work. With a bottom cutting edge, these bits are suitable for plunge cutting and will produce decorative flutes, drip grooves for cutting boards, and finger grooves for drawers. The smaller radiused bits are also ideal for lettering and sign making. When used in a router table at a partial cutting depth, a decorative coved edge moulding can be produced. Combined with a matching ovolo or roundover bit, drop leaf joints can be created, for producing custom folding tables and worktops. Radii included in this set are 4mm, 6mm and 10mm.

Superior Finish and Performance
The shearing angle of the cutting edges ensure they remain in constant contact with the workpiece to allow a smoother, slicing cut which eliminates tear-out and gives a mirror finish. The bits feature right hook angles which further enhances the cut due to the fast removal of chips. These bits feature an anti-kickback design which limits the feed rate of the material being cut to decrease the likelihood of a kickback, meaning each bit conforms to strict German DIN standards to ensure maximum operator safety. Each router bit features a lifetime warranty, if any bit fails due to a materials or manufacturing defect it will be replaced free of charge. ©

These bits have 1/2" shanks that are very long which resulted in me having to use a metal cutting disk to reduce the length so that the router on my routing table could be lowered enough to do a minimal pass. Other than that the bits cut well and produce very clean results.

Ordered the set of 3 because I wasn't sure of the exact size I would need - and I knew the range of sizes would come in handy for other projects in the future. The quality of the bits is second to none, used on both softwood (pine) and hardwood (oak) with a great finish left on both.

I hate Rutlands, Oh why do they keep sending emails with such fantastic deals. I have purchased several Router bits / bit sets most for projects that have been completed and some for the the special offers, just like this round nose set.
I have not used these but know the quality are going to be just as good as the others I own. Good quality, sharp and stay sharp.

Barry Stoddart

Have not used the Round Nose Router bit set yet but got them for the sale price and they look very well made and good quality. I have bought a few types of Router bits and other items from Rutlands and have had no issues with anything I have bought. Would recommend.
