A router collet extension is perfect to use when an increased height of router bits is needed on router tables, routing jigs or router bases. This extension gives 50mm of additional height and allows you to easily change router bits above your router table. Simply insert the extension into your 1/4" router, then insert the router bit into the ER16 collet and secure it by tightening the collet nut.
The extension is supplied with a standard multi slit ER16 engineering collet which fully grips around the router bit shank for safer routing with less vibration. The collet is made from heat treated precision ground spring steel which gives a runout accuracy of less than 0.01mm. The collet has been specifically designed to grip over a 1mm range from 6.5mm down to 5.5mm meaning both 1/4" imperial and 6mm metric shank router bits can be used in the extension. The extension body has been precision machined from a single piece of high-quality steel which has been computer balanced to minimize vibrations to ensure the extension and therefore router bit will run perfectly true.

I purchased this a week ago for my router table elevator to extend the shank to my existing Ely router. Nicely engineered & fitted easily enough. I proceeded to make 3 shaker doors on my router table, made light work of it & was very precise. There was a slide vibration through the spindle but I put that down to the size of cutter installed. The only negative I have was that I had to purchase separately a splined ER16 spanner (although easily sourced from another supplier)

Beautifully engineered. Only arrived today and have not had occasion to use it yet but it certainly inspires confidence.
I will give it five stars because I have no reason to think it will perform less than perfectly. However, a bit miffed by the fact that on the day of arrival the price was reduced by five pounds!

Superb piece of kit - far more versatile than traditional extensions which only allow one size of shank to be used, as I frequently switch between my 1/2" and 12mm shank bits

Router collet extension has a high build quality then only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it doesn't come with the spanner to tighten it. Would be nice if it came with one or offered one separately.
