This is an exceptional mitre gauge, complete with a precision mitre fence and precision flip stop. It has become recognised by leading woodworkers worldwide as the go to mitre gauge for saw benches and router tables. The mitre bar is manufactured from hardened anodised aluminium, measuring 18.5mm wide x 9.5mm deep x 450mm long and features a series of 4 expansion discs to ensure zero side play and friction-free travel. By adjusting the expansion discs with the simple turn of an allen key the bar will give a no-play fit in table saw and router table mitre gauge channels ranging from 18.5 to 19.9mm in width. In addition, a 23.5mm removable steel disc at the end of the bar allows for a no-play fit in industry standard 19mm T track.
The mitre gauge is made from 4mm thick steel plate that is attached to the fence with a 5mm thick machined aluminium casting. Underneath the plate is a phenolic sub plate designed to prevent the scratching or marking of the machine bed. The steel plate has 27 precision machined V stops at 5° increments and features special stops at plus or minus 22.5°. The plate is laser graduated in 1° increments through the range of plus or minus 60°. The V shaped steel cursor seats perfectly in the mitre gauge V grooves and locks off with a brass knurled knob eliminating any play.
The aluminium casting that holds the fence in position features two micro adjustment screws to further calibrate the gauge if required to ensure the fence is true.

This is a substantial bit of kit and after a minor alteration all angles were spot on. It replaces the basic mitre gauge on my Dewalt table saw, a great addition giving me confidence to cut accurate angles with ease.

Very good mitre gauge which, for the sake of a few pence could be exceptional. The build quality is excellent, feels very solid and weighty and a doddle to assemble. Slides smoothly in a standard T slot, with adjustable washers to take up any slack. Simple to square up in both directions in minutes. Angle setting locks positively into place with zero slack. My one and only gripe: why use socket-head Allen screws to secure the fence? Using knurled brass screws would make it a lot easier to adjust the fence, and save searching for an Allen key every time you want to make an angled cut, swap from one side of the table to the other, flip from table saw to router table and back again. They are already provided on the flip-stop zero adjustment, which you should only need to do once in a blue moon. That one addition would make it 5 stars!

The best mitre fence I have ever come across. Beautifully made, easy to set up and a joy to use. My saw bench and band saw are both of European manufacture (Kitty and Hammmer) and both have 15 x 5 mm mitre fence slots so I had to make a replacement bar using 15 x 5 mm aluminium bar. Well worth the effort.

The Mitre Gauge is obviously made to a high standard. However, I needed to dismantle mine so that I could have the aluminium runner machined to reduce the height by 2.5mm so that it is flush with my table. I am sure if this was incorporated into the design it would work first time on more table saws.

A great piece of kit; superbly made with the four adjusters allowing smooth accurate running in the mitre slot. The only suggestion I could make is perhaps to change the Allen headed bolts that attach the fence for knurled knobs but this is a personal preference that might not suit everyone. Purchased along with the box joint jig - an ideal and equally well engineered accessory. Rutlands quality standards definitely to the fore. I had the slot bar re-engineered by Cosmopolitan Engineering here in Sheffield so tat it would run in my non standard Ryobi table saw slot - great service from another great company.

Firstly it would be good if the clearance from the bar of the fence could be adjusted. It is a very snug fit, and it could usefully be 0.5mm higher. Secondly.....absolutely no instructions. It is not complex, but with five boxes and a few extra washers (I still have no idea what they for) it would be helpful to have a guide. Even the video on the website is useless. I ended up finding a YouTube video of a US website showing an equivalent model. Minor, I know, but for 99 this could so easily be remedied with an A4 sheet.

Very pleased with the quality, i have to say i own a Incra v 120, but Rutlands one seems to be much better in components, didn't test it yet on table saw or router table, but visually i'm more than happy with it, especially it comes with the fence and adjustable stop (Incra doesn't have those for the price)

Bought as a replacement for the mitre gauge supplied with the DeWalt DW745 table saw which was basic and a slack fit. The Rutlands Premium Mitre Gauge fits perfectly into the 19mm T track with no play. Once set up (there is some straightforward assembly required out of the box), it works perfectly and so far 90 and 45 degree cuts have been really accurate when tested with a Trend digital angle finder. It feels sturdy and well made in use and so much better than the basic mitre gauges you seem to get with most table saws.
