Product Details
This dovetail jig is designed to produce classical dovetail joints that are both beautiful and strong when making boxes, drawers and fine furniture. Extremely simple to set up and use the jig comes complete and ready to rout with a half blind template and a bearing guided dovetail router bit for producing 12mm wide half blind dovetails.
The body of the jig is manufactured from a heavy gauge steel pressing to prevent distortion when under load and the template is precision CNC machined from 6mm thick aluminium to ensure precise and accurate joints every time. Self aligning guides automatically position the workpiece for pin and tail locations reducing the need for tricky calculations. The jig holds both workpieces at the same time, so that the male and female dovetail cuts are a perfect match.
Two substantial levers operate on a cam lock action to quickly and rigidly grip the timbers eliminating the risk of the workpiece moving when being routed. The jig will accepts workpieces up to 300mm wide and from 15mm to 32mm in thickness. This is an excellent dovetail jig that will allow both the professional and novice woodworker to make precise and beautiful dovetails.
This premium performance jig should not be compared to the array of low cost budget jigs found elsewhere. Largely takes the mental effort out of cutting butterfly joints by hand. Heavy, well made. Would recommend to anyone who needs to do more joints than most (~0!)

My first time at creating dovetail joints, this is a very well made, solid piece of kit. As with others it does take a few trial and error goes before getting it right and when that skill is mastered it really does make visually attractive joints easily. Yes, use cheap scraps before moving on to hard woods. Am very happy with this choice and looking forward to making several projects where the joints are visible for that added attractive quality.

I am relatively new to routing and I had not used a dovetail jig before I bought this one. I spent half a day in the workshop learning how to set up the jig and the wood. There are so many good videos online that use a similar style machine that walk you through the process step by step. Once I fathomed out the set up principles I found using the jig very simple. Slowly, slowly is my advice, not rushing the router though the template. Just take your time and trial on some scrap wood first before moving on to expensive hardwoods. I can now produce beautiful matching dovetails with relative ease. I have nothing to compare this jig with, all I can say is that it comes complete with everything you need and is made from strong pressed steel and a machined template that is very precise.
