Product Details

Take your routing capabilities to the next level with this premium quality router table. Consisting of a table top, table stand, insert plate and fence it offers all the features and benefits needed for a professional quality routing experience. You now have full control of the workpiece rather than a heavy router, making jobs such as the routing of smaller or thinner stock much quicker and safer, the table is equally adept when routing larger work. Expand your routing possibilities by using larger diameter bits too big to control in a handheld router. Any router bit over 38mm in diameter is not recommended for use in a handheld router.

The large 800 x 600mm table top is laminated on both sides for durability with a thick external grade high pressure laminate, sandwiched around a solid moisture resistant composite core. This 27mm thick moisture resistant core prevents the absorption of atmospheric moisture that leads to distortion of your work surface, while the high pressure laminate surface prevents premature wear and tear. The overall result is an incredibly strong, smooth routing surface that will stay flat during its lifetime and provide an effortlessly smooth feeling as you slide your workpiece across the table. Set into the work surface is a full length extruded aluminium double T track, 19mm and 8.3mm in width for accepting mitre gauges, stops, feather boards and other accessories. Extruded aluminium is heat treated to provide an incredibly robust, smooth surface for your tracks that will stay effortless to operate and will not corrode over time.

The table includes a 298 x 235mm, 10mm thick solid aluminium plate which provides a strong mounting surface for your router. The router plate features an insert opening of 90mm accommodating large diameter bits such as raised panel bits, and an included insert ring to reduce the opening to 50mm.

The included 90mm high fence features a high quality phenolic laminate sub-fence, providing a hard-wearing anti-friction surface to feed your workpiece along. Across the top of the fence is an easily legible two-way imperial and metric measuring scale, to provide accurate positioning of your workpiece. Fence adjustments are made quickly and easily with no tools required. The fence features a large 375mm length of travel and by using the two measuring scales on either side of the table, you can be sure that your fence is set squarely. The horizontal position of each sub-fence can be adjusted individually, and the fence opening can be adjusted to accommodate all sizes of router bits. Stored in T tracks behind the fence are 2 offset bars for offsetting the outfeed fence when using the router table to edge joint boards. On the reverse of the fence are two 8.3mm T tracks, for mounting accessories such as the Rutlands R5012 router table sliding carriage.

The phenolic laminate top sits on a strong 38mm thick tubular square frame with a durable black finish. At the bottom sit 4 levelling feet for precise adjustment with a no-mar rubber finish, for accurate results even on uneven flooring. Dust collection is handled by a standard sized 63mm diameter dust port on the reverse of the fence, allowing you to connect it to existing workshop vacuums or dust collection units. This router table has a lifetime warranty and in the event that it should fail due to a material or manufacturing defect the component will be replaced free of charge.

This package is a bit of a curate's egg. Good in parts, bad in parts. First the good. It's a cracking price. It arrived blindingly fast in three seperate packages, all arriving at the same time & very securely packaged. The top, in fact, is packed up in 3 layers of cardboard like a Russian doll. Everything looks good out of the box. The top is flat to 0.05mm checked every which way with slip gauges against a Rutlands Dakota 3' aluminium straight edge. The fence is absolutely A1, far exceeding my expectations. It's dead straight along the face and 90deg to the table all the way along. No cup, no bow, no crown, no twist. I simply cannot fault it. Likewise the plate is dead flat in every direction. The legs are heavy gauge steel, 1/8" or 3mm thick or thereabouts. The connecting rail plates are 1mm thick. Everything's neatly drilled and finished. So far so good. I put it together following the instructions precisely and set about plate levelling.

After a couple of hours of failing to get the plate level, I realised something really wasn't right. So back to the slips and straight edge I went. Yikes! The table had bowed downwards in the middle, left to right and front to back. I could now easily get a 0.3mm slip in the gaps. I loosened off the screws connecting the top to the upper rails and ran the rule again. The top had returned to its former flatness.

Then I eyeballed the interface between the top and the rails. Basically the top rests flat on the top of all four legs but the rails do not butt right up to the underside of the top, no matter how high you pull them and they're all bowed downwards slightly in the middle. Thus there is a gap of about about 1&1/2mm at the ends of the rails increasing to about 2mm in the centre. Tightening the connecting screws simply pulls the top down in the middle to meet the rails. I thought about just leaving it floating but noticed that even fairly light hand pressure would deflect the top downwards in the middle. I also noticed a bit of racking. In practice leaving it floating ain't gonna work.

So after 2 half days of experimentation I came up with a simple, cheap, effective and, I think, elegant solution. I flipped it back upside down and removed the legs, complete with the lower rails. Then removed the upper rails from the top. Note the long, side to side rails have 4 screw holes, the short front to back rails have 3. I took a bag of standard M5 washers and stacked them in piles 3 high, tacking them together with grease. I put a stack of 3 under the middle 2 holes of the longer rails and 1 stack under the middle hole of the short rails. This left one fixing hole at the end of each rail. Under these I put a single washer and a single M5 shake-proof washer. The latter is approx the same thickness as 2 standard washers but compresses down nicely to the right shim size without
pulling the top down. Then I tightened up the middle screws tight and the end screws enough to get a solid fix without distorting the top. Now when I presented the legs and the rest of the base it all bolted it up nicely without issues.

The question then is whether it's worth the money. Well it's clearly, ahem, inspired by the JessEm basic set up. At the time of writing that would cost £127.55 for the Rout-R-Table, £187.57 for the Phenolic Mast-R-Top, £172.57 for the (original) Mast-R-Fence II, £59.99 for the Rout-R-Plate, and £18.75 for the Corner Levelling Pads. That's £551.45 plus delivery from the States, plus Import Duty plus VAT. That would probably come to over £700.00 altogether. So yes. This package is indeed a terrific bit of kit and an outstanding bargain, notwithstanding. BTW the double featherboards are also a cracking piece of kit at a fantastic price. Three cheers for The Ruttles!

I am absolutely delighted with this new router table. The top is precise and level, the insert plate can be adjusted so it sits flush and the fence is a dream to slide back and forth. I made the mistake a couple of years ago of buying a similar size table of EBay that was 1/3rd of the price of this Rutlands one. I had nothing but issues with it - warped top, chipped edged around the insert plate and a fence that resembled a banana. You get what you pay for and I highly recommend this to any serious woodworker. When you are routing to make fine joints you need precision and this is what you get 10 out of 10. My advice like the other reviewer is to set up the stand with the bolts loose add then add the top before fully tightening the bolts. Routing just got better.

Very pleased with this table, the new steel frame makes it very sturdy and the top is solid and flat. The original insert plate wasn't quite flush, contacted customer services who replaced it without a quibble and it easily takes the weight of my Trend T11. Well done for your excellent response. Will definitely order from Rutlands again.

For the money, a cracking bit of kit.

This is just great quality for the cost ! Its solid, nicely finished, and comes as a nice complete package. I didnt use the supplied legs but instead mounted mine to a kitchen cabinet carcass for a boxed in solution to dust control. Couldnt be happier, and you will be too if you choose to buy one.

Great router table .i was looking on ebay for second hand but this one is great and possibly cost a lot less

This is the best value piece of woodworking kit I've come across. The frame is very solid and well up to the job. The top is rigid and accurately machined...the fence moves easily etc. The insert also is very rigid and easily removable. Great product...really impressed.

a really sturdy well built base and tabletop for working on, didn't need the extras as I already have a trend router that is easy enough to adjust. not too heavy to move around if needed but feels very solid and doesn't move when the router is spinning. very happy for the money I paid.

Oliver Hamilton

After a fairly short pain-free assembly (my advise is to screw everything together lightly then tighten once fixed) I was up and running.I have a DeWalt DEW625, what most would regard as a pretty high end router so I wasn't about to skimp on a router table, I needed something that would get the best out of it. This table more than meets the task and has allowed me to expand into new routing territory and take on more heavy duty tasks. Excellent!
