Product Details

This 1/2" router has been specifically designed for both freehand use and for mounting in a router table. The router features a micro-fine height adjuster handle which allows you to adjust and precision set the cutter height with ease, when upright or inverted in a table. It is also excellent for fine height adjustment when working with dovetail jigs. One full revolution of the micro-fine adjuster handle raises or lowers the cutter height by 1mm and three position turret depth stop allows for precise repetitive routing depths.

The powerful 2200 watt motor features variable speed control from 9000 to 22000rpm and has constant speed under load ensuring a fine finish to the workpiece on hardwoods, softwoods and composite woods. The motor has in built soft start on the slowest speed to eliminate sudden movement of the router on start up. A spindle lock combined with a hex collet nut results in fast and easy bit changes.

The base of the router is fitted with a phenolic glide plate measuring 160mm in diameter which ensures excellent stability and smooth passage in free hand mode and features a wide 65mm aperture for accepting large cutters when in table mode. The phenolic plate can be removed from the base to reveal locating holes for mounting to a router table insert plate. Industry standard guide bushes are accommodated for via two easy to access set screws. The all steel side fence also features an adjustment knob that allows for micro-adjustment to set the routing width.

Weighing 5.8kg the router has two large ergonomic handles combined with a conveniently positioned on/off switch which make this a very comfortable router to operate. The router is supplied with a 35mm diameter dust port, 1/2" collet, 3/8" and 1/4" collet sleeves, collet spanner, adjustable steel side fence, 16mm guide bush, 12.7mm TCT router bit, clear bit guard and a bearing edge guide. This is a powerful 1/2" collet router designed for both freehand and table use that has the advantage of a micro-fine height adjuster which ensures fast and precise routing. Highly recommended.

The included guide bushes are used when material is required to be routed to a set pattern or shape. They are used in conjunction with worktop jigs, lock jigs, hinge jigs, sign writing jigs and any other form of router copying template. These guide bushes are precision machined from solid brass to ensure perfect concentricity and dimensional accuracy. If a guide bush is not 100% concentric then the finished workpiece will not be a true copy of the template or jig and as such could ruin an expensive workpiece.

This 11 piece set is supplied in a heavy duty storage case and contains 8 x metric guide bushes, 2 x locking nuts and a solid brass adaptor plate which fits most leading brands of router. As well as fitting into the adaptor plate the individual guide bushes are commonly used on router sub-bases and router table inserts. When using these guide bushes it is recommended that a minimum allowance of 3.5mm between the router bit and outside of the bush is made, to allow the waste to clear the guide bush.

The set comprises of industry standard, outside diameter guide bushes of 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 24, and 30mm, all with a 30mm outside diameter threaded ring. The solid brass adaptor plate measures 67.5mm externally which is recessed to fit a 61mm router base opening. This is a premium guide bush set precision machined from solid brass that should not be confused with budget pressed steel or plastic guide bushes. ©

OK, so I'm too persnickety for a wood worker. My Micrometer goes to 0.0001, I make my own straight edges. my leveling beams and fettle my planes (even L-N's) on a grade A inspection block. My excuse is I make guitars from scratch. I bought this to use freehand to cut dovetail neck joints using a purpose built jig. I like tools which are pretty well made, and accurate. So at this price point I was looking for faults, even small ones, and wouldn't hesitate to return it if it was in any way under par. Not yet used in anger, but spent a couple hours just checking everything. I'm keep this one. I would have liked a Festool, but my missus doesn't like the price. My other, smaller routers, Trend, Hitachi, Makita, Proxxon all have their "quirks", but this one seems an excellent tool, ESPECIALLY at this price point.

Great service from Rutland's delivered on the day promised.
Excellent router for £100.
I am only going to use it with a table so can't comment on all the attachments for hand use.
It is worth taking your time setting up because once installed properly it is an excellent piece of kit. The height adjustment is perfect, make sure you position the router on the table so as to get easy access to the adjusting knob.
To align the centre of the router spindle with the centre hole of the table insert I turned in wood a stepped insert to fit in the centre hole of the table insert and the centre hole of the routers plastic base which you have to remove anyway. Position the router plastic base on the table insert plate aligning using the turned insert, make sure it is the preferred orientation then use the fixing holes on the plastic base as a template to mark the hole on the table insert. Drill and counter sink the holes and fix the router to the insert plate.
Perfect for use with a table

Fantastic piece of precision equipment that you wouldn't even know was on when using. The power is amazing. For instance I used it for rabbeting today for 3 hours and I didnt feel any resistance or vibration.
Best buy of the year for me, will be using it daily! This is a game changer for the occassional user who wants to up their game.

This router vastly superior to the one it replaces. It is very smooth and, powerful though it is, it is very easy to handle. The depth and fence adjustments are very precise, sound, and easy to use. A joy in every way.

I recently brought this router, Looks like a really good piece of kit. It says its ideal to fit into the router table I brought last week from Rutlands. However its too big to fit into the opening on the table !!.
Could be a failure on my part, But just be aware that you need to check this out before parting with your money
Other than that, I have always been very happy with everything I've brought from Rutands.

It's been many years since I bought my last router and wow how they have progressed. Love the slow start and the micro adjustment plus the quality and of course the price. Excellent bit of kit, smooth, quiet and powerful. I only hope I can do it justice.
Just need to look around the workshop now to see what else I need to update. Great stuff Rutlands - as always.

I bought a lower priced, look-a-like guide bush set off Ebay and they were very poorly machined. There was about 0.5mm of side movement in the bush holder so every time I tried to route a dovetail joint the tails and the pins would not fit. I ordered the Rutlands set and there is no side movement and my dovetail joint fitted first attempt. I waisted over Ă‚£20 on hardwood trying to make the Ebay set work. Buy once buy quality.

Bought the guide bush set to mount to my Hitachi M12. The adaptor plate is a perfect fit to the base of the router and i can now easily swap guide bushes in seconds. Well made and nicely presented in a case.

Blimey! I have to say I was shocked at the quality of this router for the price! Very solid tool, weighty and of really good build quality. Its bigger than it appears in the photos. I bought it for my router table which currently has a Trend T-Tech Router 2200 Watt motor fitted but without the fine adjust. I have to recommend this tool and well done Rutlands!

James Tickhill

Love the fine height adjustment handle as it makes setting the bit depth so fast and simple. It's bigger than it looks in the photograph which isn't a problem as the motor is very smooth. I had bought it for mounting in my router table however I may now buy a second one for free hand routing. Nice little touch is that it comes with a spare set of carbon brushes. 10 out of 10 for the price.

Trevor Garcia

Really really good router for less than £100. Rutlands have really excelled with this, as soon as it is out of the box you can feel the quality, the power it generates is also very good. It is comparable to another well known brand of router that I own but almost a quarter of the price. The steel fence will come in useful and looks to be well made.

Robert Caruthers

I bought this router to use specifically in my router table. What drew me to this router was the fine height adjustment handle. My router table is a floor standing unit with open sides so with this router i can easily access the handle to control the cutting depth of the bit. I previously compromised with my old Elu 177 router which meant unbolting and setting up when moving from table to hand use. Now this new router is permanently mounted in the table. I have used the router once so far with a raised field bit and it performed very well. Its a big router so you need to use all three holes in the base to ensure it is held firmly. I'm knocking one star off as Rutlands don't yet offer additional longer screws for the table. My table has a 5mm thick plate and the screws that come with the router only have 10mm of thread. They have worked so far but i'm going to get some longer ones as soon as RutlandS gets stock. Overall great value router and lovely fine height control.
