This set features the three most popular rattan handle Japanese saws, Dozuki (R1002), Kataba (R1005) and Ryoba (R1008) complete with a traditional Japanese saw roll for storage and protection.

The action of pulling the saw keeps the blade in tension through the cut, which allows the blade to be thinner and lighter, for a much smoother and faster cut. Having used western style hand saws for over 20 years I was slightly sceptical about the benefits of Japanese saws. All I can say is I wish I had been told about them 20 years ago. They are in a different league to any saw I have used. The blades are really thin which means you are removing less wood and therefore have to exert less force. The action of cutting on the pull stroke keeps the blade perfectly straight and the teeth are individually set to act like a series of planes, shaving the wood away. Brilliant and I will never go back to a conventional saw.
