Product Details
The new Precision 100 Woodturning Chuck Complete Kit is the latest advancement in work holding systems for discerning woodturners and comes with a 10 year warranty. This is our premium chuck offering and contains the Precision 100 chuck body, 70mm dovetail jaws, 75mm faceplate ring, 50mm pin jaws woodscrew chuck, 75mm ripple jaws, 45mm extended dovetail jaws, 250mm button jaws, 115mm powergrip jaws and a set of eight hardened jaw screws.
The precision chuck combined with the wide array of jaws allows for almost every type of work-holding requirement from miniature turning through to large bowl turning projects up to 25kg. Designed to be used on all sizes of lathes from midi and mini lathes through to large capacity professional lathes you can turn spindles, bowls, goblets, candlesticks, pepper mills, pens and pencils and even unseasoned and green timber. Precision engineered and beautifully balanced, it offers superior performance combined with rock-solid holding power and excellent load bearing capability. The chuck is specifically designed so the jaws cut into the wood to provide a class leading clamping force, unlike other woodturning chucks that use engineering jaw profiles which crush the wood fibres and do not grip the workpiece as securely.
The body of the chuck is engineered to ensure that the workpiece sits as close as possible to the headstock, therefore reducing load and minimizing wear on the main spindle bearing. This chuck is extremely strong and durable, as it is machined from a special grade of medium-tensile steel, which is normally used for the manufacture of high performance turbo impellors, pistons and gears. Using this steel allows for closer tolerances during the manufacturing process which results in excellent concentricity to minimize vibration and to ensure that a chatter-free, super fine finish can be achieved by the woodturner.
The precision machined scroll mechanism and the high ratio gearing combine to ensure for a strong grip irrespective of workpiece size. The four jaws open and close using a T-handled key, allowing for one handed operation, leaving one hand free to support and balance your workpiece when mounting and dis-mounting the workpiece. The chuck and jaws are presented in a twin box set, which features a dedicated foam cut out to aid protection when not in use. 1" x 8tpi and 33 x 3.5mm chucks are direct threaded, 3/4" x 16tpi, 1" x 12tpi, 1 1/4" x 8tpi and 1 1/2" x 8tpi chucks are supplied with thread adaptors.
This is without doubt the finest chuck system we have offered and allows for a multitude of operations to be carried out without removing the chuck from the lathe. It is precision made, has excellent concentricity, a wide range of jaws and comes with a 10 year warranty. An excellent premium performance woodturning chuck kit. ©

Bought this chuck kit because it has everything I may need. My only wish is that all manufacturers could design a chuck with a removable threaded section so the chuck could be as close as possible to the headstock. All in all though a fantastic chuck

Precision 100 Woodturning Chuck Complete Kit is excellent value with a large variety of jaws but my only issue is when using the button jaws the chuck key is too short and makes tightening the button jaws fiddly. A solution would be to sell an extra long chuck key ...
Finally £9.99 for 8 replacement countersunk faceplate screws is daylight robbery - I will just have to make sure I don't drop one!

Having purchased the premium lathe I could not resist this premium 100 kit , I now have a chucking system to cover all my turning needs and this has been a great purchase
Rob Crew
Great value set, well engineered. The whole set came well packaged in two boxes, I could feel the quality from the weight of the parcel! Came with an adapter to fit my lathe.
I've used a couple of the attachments on the chuck and all seems good. I would definitely recommend this set.

Not used in anger yet, but had a play with it. You can just tell its a great piece of kit and really well made. Love it.
Mike Gaskin
A hugely versatile selection of quality engineered jaws give clamping options for projects of many kinds. Fast delivery too.

Have just decided to have a try at Wood turning so I read various reviews and articles on lathe chuck's. I saw this chuck and decided to buy it, the quality of build is excellent (I am a mechanical /electrical engineer by trade) so checking the quality was important and I can find no faults in the build or assembly. Have only used the screw chuck and the ripple jaws and can't wait to try the others. I would have no doubt in recommending this product to anyone

These are extremely well made and worth every penny. For those a bit dubious about the outlay I can fully recommend these and you won't be disappointed when they arrive - which also is very quick and excellent service. My lathe also is a lot quieter since I started using these which also suggests the quality of the items is very good and there is no vibration caused by them.
All in all it is a big outlay but you won't regret spending the extra and they will probably outlast the lathe!

I have used this with the button jaws and everything seems fine. I haven't yet tried the other jaws but they seem well made. Quite a lot of kit for the price. I would have preferred a chuck with a direct cut thread instead of an adapter but this was the only one I could fing to fit my denford viceroy - 1 1/2" x 8tpi.

Brilliant piece of kit.
No runout on chuck, machining first class.
Together with a full set of jaws you can't go wrong.
Great price, buy one!

I have been using a Precision 75 chuck and jaws for some time, which are excellent quality, and now that I am moving on to larger pieces of turning needed a larger chuck and had no hesitation in purchasing the Precision 100 with the complete set of jaws, which is excellent value. As usual with Rutlands the order arrived well packaged the next day and I have already used the dovetail and pin jaws on my current project. First class.
Thomas Jenner
Bought this set as my first chuck and had for about a month. Very impressed with the chuck and the kit as a whole, good value for money and works very well. Comes with pretty much any jaw you could want and baring a weird compression gripping gap between 35 to 40mm is a brilliant piece of kit.
Only issue Ive had so far is in the cold weather the bolt heads holding the jaws stripped very easily so aside from the pain of getting those bolts out Ive been very impressed.

I have just purchased one of these chucks and compared it to my other (a well known make), it is an exceptionally well made item and for the money a great buy. To have all the extra bits and bobs, without having the extra expense of buying them one at a time, is just great money saver.
Well done - Rutlands.

I researched a lot of options for a chuck to upgrade my lathe (3/4" 16tpi). In the end I bit the bullet and determined to pay for a buy once quality piece of kit. Couldn't be more impressed with service and quality of the precision 100 complete system. I can now fix securely anything I wish to turn with ease, from pen blanks and pepper mills to bowls and chess pieces, amazing!

I ordered the Precision 100 complete kit as it comes with a number of jaw combinations to fit the chuck. I am now able to turn any project I can think of or likely to in the future.
The chuck kit was so easy to order on the website and was delivered within 24 hours as stated.
The packaging is excellent with each component held perfectly in custom cut foam rubber.
The quality is excellent on all components in the kit and easily matches other quality brand chucks I have used in the past.
I am very pleased with my first purchase from Rutlands and will most definitely be ordering more equipment in the near future.
Excellent service and product!

This is an excellent chuck system. I have an Axminster SK100 chuck and a couple of jaws, but find the extra jaws expensive. The Rutland 100 complete kit (although not cheap) comes with a wide range of jaws, which will be more than sufficient for my needs. The kit is well made and the chuck itself is very heavy, so generates a lot of inertia. The chuck fits my Axminster lathe beautifully. The jaws grip the workpiece well and changing the jaws is relatively easy, but does take a while. Be sure to have a little pot by the jaw when you undo the nuts holding the jaw, they can easily slip from cold fingers into the shavings below, eating into turning time as you scrabble on the floor. Overall, I think you get a lot of kit for your £200.
Peter Doyle
Item just arrived so not had chance to do anything other than mount it and check balance which seems perfect. The kit is comprehensive and very well made and comes in an excellent storage box. I would recommend it. Very good value.

I recently acquired a second hand Record No 3 lathe with a swivel headstock so that I could turn large diameter bowls. I bought this chuck as it appeared excellent value for money and I new I could return it if I was not satisfied. When it arrived I screwed the chuck onto the spindle and used my Starret dial gauge to see how true the rotation was. It was less than 1/10" of a thousandth of an inch. this gave me confidence as I would be turning up to 24" bowls and any out of true would cause major issues the larger the diameter. I have used the chuck on five project to date and I am delighted with the performance. I have sprayed the inner case insert with WD40 so that every time I put the chuck to bed it is corrosion protected. Good purchase.

Super chuck kit. Does exactly what it says on the can.
Mr J T
Fantastic chuck. Every thing you need in one case. Good build quality, good finish on the jaws and runs true. Be careful though not to over tighten the jaw screws - they are a difficult to undo if over tightened. I recommend
Carl Hopkins
I looked at the Nova, Axminster and the Record but this one offered far more jaws than the others at considerably less money. So far it has not let me down. It seems well engineered and the jaws open and close smoothly each time. I've turned a goblet with a 5mm diameter stem so that should tell you a lot. I definitely would buy again.
A Smith
Great piece of kit. I am using mine on a Record No 3 lathe. So far I have turned a 14" bowl and it worked a treat even when initially roughing out. Runs true and I like the fact that no dust or debri can enter the rear of the chuck.
