This premium performance lathe is designed for the discerning woodturner or more ambitious newcomer and should not be compared with low cost, budget lathes. The level of vibration on this lathe is exceptionally low, due to the substantial grey iron castings which have the mass needed to dampen and absorb vibration. The castings are CNC machined to exacting tolerances to ensure perfect alignment of the headstock and tailstock and to allow for the smooth movement of the tool rest holder and tailstock along the length of the bed.
The drive spindle is precisely aligned and runs in extra wide roller bearings to ensure class-leading concentricity. The drive spindle has a 1" x 8tpi thread with a No 2 morse taper for the fitting of industry standard chucks and attachments. The tailstock has No 2 morse taper which is hollowed out to accept drill bits when turning lampstands that require electric cable to be passed through. You can turn bowls up to 305mm and spindles up to 535mm , which can be extended to 1230mm with the optional bed extension. The lathe is powered by a 550w high torque, induction motor which is extremely quiet in use, even at maximum speed and under full load.
A non-slip, poly V belt, efficiently transmits power from the motor to the step pulleys, resulting in six spindle speeds of 460, 660, 1040, 1560, 2270 & 2900 rpm, allowing you to select the correct speed to suit small, medium and large turnings. To change speeds you simply raise the motor to slacken off the belt and then reposition the belt on a different step of the pulley. The reverse rotation is ideal for sanding and polishing when final finishing. The 150mm tool rest is held firmly in the non-slip banjo and will not wander when roughing out or turning large bowls and platters. All of the adjustment handles are ergonomic and can be locked off to prevent obstruction with the turning tool. The lathe comes complete with a revolving centre, four prong centre, face plate, knock out rod and spindle locking wrenches.

Previously had a budget lathe and what a difference. Very heavy cast iron construction with no vibration or chatter. Changing speeds is fast and simple and the build is excellent. Would have preferred a slightly longer tool rest but i really can not criticise this lathe. Would i recommend - yes without a doubt

Delighted with my new lathe. Technology has obviously moved on significantly, as this lathe is so much quieter and is vibration free in comparison to my previous Tyme lathe. The castings are nicely finished and all of the moving components just glide along the bed. Changing speeds is straight forward, you raise the motor lever, reposition the belt and then relax the motor. Reverse is great for adding wax and polish. This beauty will keep me happy for months to come.
