This premium set of Cryogenic M2 HSS turning tools features six full-size tools allowing for the professional turning of both bowl and spindle projects including candlesticks, goblets, standard lamps, pepper pots, bowls, platters and pens. Beautifully presented in a wooden case, this set comprises of a 1" roughing gouge for taking the corners off square stock, to make it round, 3/4" oval skew chisel for creating a smooth cylindrical finish, 3/8" spindle gouge for adding detail, such as coves and beads, 1/8" diamond parting tool for cutting deep grooves or releasing finished work from a waste wood base, 1/2" bowl gouge for the hollowing out of goblets and bowls and a 3/4" square nose scraper to give perfectly flat bottoms to the insides of bowls.
These premium turning tools are made from M2 high-speed steel which has been cryogenically hardened, to ensure an extremely long service life. Cryogenic hardening is a technical process, where the steel is cooled down to -185°C after hardening, resulting in an edge that will last up to 5 times longer than conventionally hardened high-speed steel. This process makes the tools ideal for turning oily abrasive woods, exotic woods, green and hard woods, allowing the turner to turn wood rather than spend time re-sharpening the blade. The blades have a super fine cutting edge with reduced burr formation, which results in a clean, smooth finish and a superior feel in use. The blades are remarkably fast and easy to sharpen, as they allow you to remove less material than before to produce a perfect razor sharp edge. The blades are hardened to HRC63-65 and are ready to use, having been bevelled, sharpened and polished.

Where to begin. The tools come in a quality box, upon opening greeted with foam inlay which will hold the tools very snuggly in place.
Then you take 1 out and just feel instantly the quality.
If your a novice turner and think these are pricey to learn with, please don't look at it money wise.
If you invest now, it will make your learning experience a whole lot easier, plus the advantage of having quality tools when your achieve a higher skill and knowledge. 5 star+

Bought these at the beginning of the year. You can really feel the quality of the product, from how well balanced they are to the beech handles. They are easy to sharpen, yet the steel is not as soft as the hss ones I have got. I don't think you can beat the quality for the price.

Very pleased with this set of tools. Arrived in a really nice wooden case with a foam insert separating and protecting the tools. Handles are very large but shaped so you can get a really good grip. Blades were sharp out of the box and gave a very clean cut. Tried most of the spindle tools and impressed but yet to try the bowl gouge. Will report back next week as I have just ordered a number of hardwood bowl blanks.

I treated myself to this set for Christmas. After a week i have turned a bowl from Bubinga and made a set of candle sticks. Blades have retained their edge really well and the bowl gouge is awesome. Nice big handles that give you lots of control.

Excellent range of tool profiles in this set for initial roughing out to final finish. Handles are very substantial and you can get a strong purchase on them. Edges were sharp straight out of the box and after a week I have not yet had to re-sharpen any tool. So far so good.
