Product Details

Comprising of three carbide tipped turning tools, measuring 330mm in overall length, this mini tool set is specifically designed for turning small-scale and precise projects. Extremely easy to master and control these carbide tip tools leave an incredibly smooth surface that requires minimal sanding. Unlike conventional turning tools that require a sweeping movement to ensure a smooth cut, these tools simply require you to advance or retract the tip as you move the tools across the tool rest. The tips are manufactured from K10 carbide, which is extremely hardwearing, retaining its edge for longer even when working with hard and exotic woods. The blades are bevelled and will not clog in wet or resinous woods, ensuring a smooth and consistent finish to the workpiece. When the blade shows signs of wear simply rotate it around to an unused section to create a fresh edge.

The handles are ergonomically designed to allow for optimum grip and comfort and are made from a slow growing beech that has been selected for its straight grain, to ensure maximum strength. The shanks of the blades are buried deep into the beech handles and secured by a solid stainless steel ferrule.

The square roughing tool is primarily used for taking the stock from square to round and is also capable of producing delicate finishing cuts. It will leave a finished surface that is smooth, requiring minimal sanding. The round spindle tool is primarily a finishing tool for shaping and finishing the inside of bowls and goblets and for cutting coves into spindles. It will leave a finished surface that is smooth, requiring minimal sanding. The diamond detail tool is used as a small gouge and features double ended diamond shaped points that are excellent for adding narrow beads and coves. The diamond tool is commonly used when adding dovetail recesses for mounting chucks. It will leave a finished surface that is smooth, requiring minimal sanding.

These premium performance woodturning tools have a lifetime warranty and will be replaced free of charge if any tool fails due to a material or manufacturing defect. These are excellent mini carbide tip woodturning tools which are favoured for small projects and in particular for pen and pencil making. ©

Haven't had an opportunity to use them yet but delivery, despite postal strikes, was excellent. They look good, feel solid and all contained in the well constructed and padded box. Will add to comments after use but don't feel that there should be any problems.

Peter Howard

Lovely set of chisels and very easy to use as a beginner. Also no need to have a sharpening system. I bought these on an offer price and and very pleased with them.

Stuart Turner

They turn out to be excellent value as all the items I have purchased from Rutlands, as they say, they only put their name on quality goods. I recommend they are your first stop when looking for tools.

Tony Collins

Bought at reduced Sale price so very happy at that. Already had this set of tools so instead of replacing cutters (3 x £9.99 plus postage) I now have additional complete tools at little extra cost. They are good quality and worth having. Arrived quickly.

Tim Blackman

I already have the large size version of these and am just was happy with the smaller version as with my large ones.

Chris McCullough

Excellent set of chisels, really easy to use. Rutlands produce 1st class tools and always my first port of call when looking to make a purchase. Great company to deal with

Jon Duckworth

Very straight forward purchase. They arrived well packaged and presented in a wooden storage box.
As a novice turner I have not got the skill or wherewithal to sharpen so I think these sharp and hard-wearing carbide tools are perfect. The offer price also put them in reach and onto the birthday present list. Would recommend Rutlands for quality, competitive prices and regular offers, perhaps concider free price point P&P in line with other suppliers.

Danny Gosling

Delighted with these great tools. Their small size makes them ideal for smaller detail work, light and easy to control for an inexperienced woodturner like me. Sharp and precise tips cut beautifully and I love not having to sharpen them every couple of minutes as required with traditional tools. As a bonus they come in their own bespoke wooden storage case. Great value too, and excellent service from Rutlands; an excellent buying experience all round.

David Gault

These were ready to use from the box, I have used them on beech and ash so far. The edges are still ultra sharp. Very easy to control for fine detail.

Gavin Reeve

They cut well, are easy to handle and the short length is useful. They would be better with square shafts so they stay flat on the tool rest, but that's quibbling really.

Steve Morris

Never used carbide tools, saw these advertised and I thought they were reasonably priced enough to give them a try.
The service I received was exemplary and when I opened the packaging I was blown away with the quality of the tool set and the wooden box they with. Absolutely brilliant.
I have used them, and having never used carbide tools before I didn't know how I would get on with them. I have to say they are incredible, hot knife through butter comes to mind, easy to use with loads of control.
This has been one of the easiest reviews I've written. A superb buying experience from beginning to end.
Well done Rutlands

Colin Gill

Great little tools for small bowls and egg cups, sharp and light to handle

Ben Foster

I have had these tools for just over a month and they are superb, they are great to hold in the hand and work well for delicate work. The blades are as sharp as the day I bought them, despite them having a fair amount of use on seasoned Oak. If one is looking for a smaller set of tools for precision work then I would definitely recommend these.

Len Piper

First time ordering from Rutlands, fantastic service, ordered 3 O'clock Friday afternoon cutters arrived 11 O'clock Saturday morning.
Quality set of 3 mini carbide tools easy to use straight out of the padded storage box.
Highly recommended.

Richard Oliver

Ordered these after I received the larger variant for my birthday. The same quality as the larger ones but great for using on smaller projects.

Kay Quinn

Oozes quality, comes well packaged in a wooden box and a foam insert to store and protect the tools. Great little products for new or experienced turners.
