Product Details

This K10 carbide tool set consists of three individual tools with carbide tip profiles of square, round and diamond, allowing for the turning of both bowl and spindle projects including candlesticks, goblets, standard lamps, pepper pots, bowls, platters and pens. Extremely easy to master and control these carbide tip tools leave an incredibly smooth surface that requires minimal sanding. Unlike conventional turning tools that require a sweeping movement to ensure a smooth cut, these tools simply require you to advance or retract the tip as you move the tools across the tool rest. The wide flat face of the shaft sits flush against the tool rest, automatically presenting the cutter at the correct angle to the workpiece. The blades are manufactured from K10 carbide, which is extremely hardwearing, retaining its edge for longer even when working with hard and exotic woods. The blades are bevelled and will not clog in wet or resinous woods, ensuring a smooth and consistent finish to the workpiece. When the blade shows signs of wear simply rotate it around to an unused section to create a fresh edge.

The shafts of the tools are made from stainless steel, which is extremely durable and will not rust when in contact with wet or acidic wood. The full-size handles are ergonomically designed to allow for optimum grip and comfort and are made from a slow growing beech that has been selected for its straight grain, to ensure maximum strength. The shanks of the blades are buried deep into the beech handles and secured by a solid stainless steel ferrule.

The roughing tool is primarily used for removing large volumes of wood, very quickly, taking the stock from square to round and is also capable of producing delicate finishing cuts. It will leave a finished surface that is smooth, requiring minimal sanding. The round tool is primarily a finishing tool for shaping and finishing the inside of bowls and goblets and for cutting coves into spindles. It will leave a finished surface that is smooth, requiring minimal sanding. The diamond tool is used as a small gouge and features double ended diamond shaped points that are excellent for adding narrow beads and coves. The diamond tool is commonly used when adding dovetail recesses for mounting chucks. It will leave a finished surface that is smooth, requiring minimal sanding.

These premium performance woodturning tools have a lifetime warranty and will be replaced free of charge if any tool fails due to a material or manufacturing defect. These are excellent full-size carbide tip woodturning tools. ©

Philip De Paolo

Bought these in the daily price drop deal a few days ago. Used them yesterday for the first time and was very pleased with the performance. Good robust tools, square shaft aids positioning and reduces chatter.

Allan Smith

First purchase of carbide tipped tools. Very impressed so far and seem to keep sharp.

Ross Walker

A very well made bit of kit. Precise and comfortable in the hand. They can remove either a bulk of material quickly or be super delicate whilst doing refined work.

The replacement blades are readily available and come with a threadlock on the bolt already.

Very happy with this purchase

Paul Fisher

Prompt delivery, good product, fair price. First time using carbide tipped tools, impressed.

Howard Warhurst

This set of chisels has turned me!
From a clumsy rank amateur into a gifted professional overnight.
Seriously, these are quite amazing.
Try as I might I can never get a perfect edge to my chisels. Even with guides and jigs. Sharpening tools is a real art. With these there is no honing to be done.
They stay incredibly sharp yet surprisingly resilient. When the blade eventually dulls simply replace with new.
In use they seem effortless - like removing butter from a pat.
Highly recommend

Christopher Mcglinchey

exceptional quality and very reasonably priced for a premium set of tools also first time ordering from Rutland and very impressed with the service delivered next day

Tim Blackman

Vastly superior to my conventional turning tools.
Get the speed right and they will remove quantity with ease and speed but are then capable of removing the same fine shavings as if using a scraper, leaving very little to do with the sandpaper.
Where have they been all my turning life.

Trevor George

Surprisingly easy to use. Almost point and go. My first project was to turn a candlestick from beech. Roughing tool quickly turned the square blank to round and the round tool allowed me to add the curves and hollows. Added some final detail work with the diamond tool. Very impressed with my first attempt. Great finish that required very little sanding. Happy turner.
