Product Details
These spring mitre clamps are used for holding work pieces together, under heavy pressure whilst the adhesive sets. They are used for holding in place the corners of the work piece when making picture frames, joining skirting board and fixing mouldings and beadings and all general frame work. By pressing on the spring loaded pliers you expand and open the spring clamp. You then position the two ends of the spring clamp around your frame and release the pressure on the pliers. The spring clamps then close and lock rigidly onto the faces of the work piece.
The set contains a pair of multi position spring pliers, and four of each of the following springs - 3 1/2", 2 3/4", 2" and 1 1/4". 95mm maximum capacity x 55mm maximum depth. ©

I was recommended to give these try for clamping and fixing whilst fitting well impressed held mitres true weather I pinned or glued no sliding onlong joint hands are free to work would recommend rutlands true to form come up with the goods

Very good clamps that are great for mitre joins. Mostly the smaller sizes works best for me. The larger ones apply pressure in the wrong places, causing the joint to go out of square.
Of course, these clamps damage the wood, and they leave a pretty deep hole in softer woods. A workaround is to tape some thick card securely first and let the clamps stab into that.
Apart from that, a useful product and probably the best mitre clamp you can get because they are simple and quick to put in place.

How wrong can you be????
I have an underpinner for picture frames and corner clamps for bigger items why would I need these fancy spring mitre clamps. First you have to buy the spring pliers then a set of spring clamps at £10 per 4.
Until Rutland produced this set and I read a couple of reviews.
The hours these could have saved me over the years!!
Quick, Simple, Effective and good value for the money are just a few things that 'Spring" to mind.
A must have for any workshop or joiner fitting skirting around an outside corner.

After seeing these used on demonstration videos on You Tube I kept promising myself that I would buy some when I could find out where to get them. As if by magic they appeared in the offers bulletin, I receive from Rutlands, and on offer too. They look perfect and were delivered next day. I am hoping to use them soon, will let you know how I go on.

Used them for the first time whilst building a box. Works very well and holds the mitres together for glueing. I've tried lots of different ways but this is the best and easiest.

Tried these out whilst 2nd fixing, cut all architrave to size, cleared a floor area for gluing up, 1st set flat on floor glued mitre joints and set spring clamp and cleaned joint, next set of arch directly on top with a piece of paper underneath joint to stop sticking to one below, and so on.
whilst glue setting I went down stairs and cut arch, when finished removed spring clamps upstairs and repeated process downstairs
back upstairs and pinned all arch to frames, when finished downstairs was ready for pinning to frames
To summarize, all arch joints glued and tight with no fussing with a plane fitting joints saving me at least 1 to 2 hours time with a perfectly glued joint.
Wish I had tried these years ago for trimming out
Only gripe is I would like to buy extra spring clamps separately to have more but I just had to buy another kit

If like me I find there's nothing more frustrating than gluing mitered corners and trying to keep them from opening up. I came across these spring clamps and have found them to be the quickest and easiest way to keep the pressure on until the glue drys and to make nice tight joints. Definitely a must have tool for trim carpentry and picture framing.
