Product Details

This quick release vice is cast, machined and assembled by the world's leading and largest vice manufacturer, who have been established since 1950. The body of the vice is precision CNC machined from solid grey iron castings, a material recognised for its wear resistance and high compressive strength.

The vice has a class leading clamping force of 19000N for assured workholding. The 230mm wide front jaw is fractionally tapered toward the rear jaw, so that when under clamping pressure the jaws become parallel for positive non slip clamping. The lead screw is made from hardened and tempered steel and features a buttress thread that ensures fast, smooth and controlled movement. Buttress threads are stronger in shear than any other power thread, combining the high efficiency of a square thread with the high strength of a V thread.

The advantage of this quick release vice is that by depressing the front trigger, the lead screw disengages from the cast nut allowing you to slide the jaw back and forth with one hand. Once your workpiece is position, release the trigger and clamp up using the tommy bar.

Both front and rear jaws are pre-drilled to accept wood sub fences to protect the surface of the workpiece and the front jaw features a height adjustable dog for clamping against a bench dog on your workbench. The castings of the vice are finished in an epoxy powder paint that is extremely hard wearing, chip and corrosion resistant.

These quick release vices have a lifetime warranty and in the event that the vice fails due to a material or manufacturing defect it will be replaced free of charge. This is a premium quality, premium performance quick release vice that can be found in professional woodworkers workshops worldwide. ©

Quick release vice arrived as promised. First class product at a remarkable price. Hefty with a smooth operation. It will last for decades. Recommended without question.

Ian Morris

A superb vice far exceeding all expectations and at a price that is difficult to believe. Delivered promptly and is now fitted to my bench.

Steve Harman

Works very smoothly and looks like it will last for a lifetime judging by the build quality and hefty castings. Very speedy delivery even at the lowest carriage charge option. Excellent value, especially so with the Daily Price Drop! Very happy!

Mark Guilford

This is a beast of a vice and the jaws are very deep. You will need fairly thick spacer blocks when mounting to get the jaws to sit below the top of your bench. the finish is very good. One small niggle though - the through holes for mounting the jaw cheeks are not countersunk or threaded (threaded would be nice). It appears to be an Eclipse vice which are known for being able to hand heavy work.

James Liddiard

A very well engineered vice. Absolutely rigid with an easy slide quick release. Great working capacity and delivered promptly in a well packaged strong box - highly recommended. Thankyou Rutlands.

David Dawson

Very good vice, works well and is a good size. Delivery excellent as is the packaging. Good value especially if on discount offer.

Mike Smith

Steve

Brian Rogers

Amazing item! fantastic quality and well built,I would thoroughly recommend this for all.

Adam

First impressions are a good sturdy vice and easy to fit. Not had much chance to use it yet, but for the small amount of use it has had, it has performed very well and I am sure will give many years of good service.

Richard Peck

Haven't had a chance to use in 'anger' just yet. Initial thoughts are that it is very well made, finished and solid. Love the quick release option as it's my first version of this. I would recommend this vice from my first impressions.

Rob

Great vice, very sturdy and easy to fit.

Martin Hughes

A great addition to any workshop. Replacing the original wooden vice with this has transformed my bench for the better. No racking and the QR mechanism save so much time and hassle when clamping work pieces. Highly recommended.

Michal Kuchta

This is an excellent vice. I was thinking about buying one from York, from the Czech Republic, too. However, I wanted the quick release system from the old Eclipse vices. This vice is substantial: it weighs around 18 kgs and is a two-person job if you canĀ“t turn your bench upside down. With a lifetime warranty by Rutlands, IĀ“m looking forward to testing this piece. Overall IĀ“m super happy: the casting is perfect, machining flawless and the finish is gorgeous matte black.

Marcus Hobbs

Always exciting to get a new toy in the post! When it arrived I had it all set up and was planing some chair legs within the hour. Looks and feels top quality, as I've come to expect

Tim Greig

Quick release is a must if you're working on a project with lots of different parts. I mounted some mahogany face plates to mine and it's held everything super tight with zero amounts of play so far. I don't imagine it'll break but if it does its good to know its covered by warranty.
