FULL DESCRIPTION
This Rutlands® circular saw combines incredible power and performance with balance, control and portability. Its robust build quality provides the durability to tackle heavy duty tasks, whether making long rip cuts, trimming sheet material, cutting kitchen worktops or framing, on site or in the workshop.

Carefully engineered to provide a best in class power to weight ratio, the saw weighs only 3.9kg, designed to reduce operator fatigue during extended operation. Its balanced construction, along with ergonomically designed soft grip handles, ensure superior handling and control for cleaner, more accurate straight line cuts. A generously sized, heavy gauge steel base wraps around the saw providing excellent stability on bevel and narrow cuts. The front of the base features V notch cut line guides for 0° straight cuts and 45° bevel cuts. The bevel angle can be set up to 45°, with scale markers given every 5° for quick identification of the most commonly used angles. The large cutting depth range can be set to a maximum of 65mm at 90° and 44mm and 45°, using scale markers every 5mm, with both bevel and depth adjustments made tool-free.

The powerful 1300W motor drives the 185mm 24T TCT blade at a no load speed of 4,500rpm, tackling the hardest and most abrasive solid and composite woods. The large two finger trigger is comfortable to use and features a safety lock button to prevent accidental startup. A 32mm dust outlet on the upper aluminium blade guard directs dust and debris away from the workpiece, keeping the cut line clear whilst allowing direct connection to a dust extractor or vacuum. Supplied with the saw is a straight edge guide, used to ensure clean, straight rip cuts, ideal for production work. ©

Used on half a dozen occasion this week and can not fault the saw so far. Very little vibration in your hand and powerful enough to notch out studs without noticing the blade slowing. Great size and easy to control.

Excellent Product

I have used Elu, Dewalt and Skil saws in the past and this is up there with them. Very compact body that allows you clear site of the cutting line, big handles for control and left a feather free finish on MDF.

I was looking for a

I was looking for a replacement for my Makita 71/4" saw and was just about to buy another Makita when I saw this one. Arrived the next day and I unboxed not knowing what the quality or performance would be like. Looks as good as my old Makita, saws as well as my old Makita and was £40 cheaper than my old Makita. Used it mainly for ripping sheets and notching out frames and so far delighted. Comfortable grips and nicely balanced.

What I Expected

What I expected from Rutlands, the saw is very good quality nad the blade cuts very well, I thought about upgrading the blade but there is no need. The base is sturdy and the saw feels light yet powerful, would recommend.

Not what I’ve come to expect from Rutlands

Rutlands circular saw

I’m honestly sorry to say that “disappointing” is the word I’d use for this circular saw as it promises much but fails to deliver. I wish I’d spent a bit extra in the end as others I have used in the past were far better. On the plus side the motor is powerful and that part of the saw seems good quality and, I’ll predict, durable. The handles are comfortable and the view of the blade is good with the notch on the end of the base plate being a reasonable guide to follow. I’ve not used the side guide yet for ripping long edges so can’t comment on that but expect it to work ok.

Sadly that’s all the positives I can come up with. It’s a cheap price for certain but that is reflected in the way it functions. The depth gauge is very basic in its measurement scale with no mm just cm. It’s annoyingly inaccurate and when you tighten it to fix it in place the blade moves slightly. The base and adjustments are basic and when I was using it to cut the ends of carcassing timber the body of the motor would annoyingly catch on the edge my speed square which I was using as a guide.

I’m no professional but was intending to use this saw quite a bit but now I feel reluctant to. The other Rutlands products; saw, chisels, router bits and other tools etc, I’ve bought in the past have all been great so I suppose that has added to my frustrations surrounding this product.
