This easy to use jig produces clean sided, perfectly sized dowels using any existing wood in your workshop, whether common or exotic and not readily available in dowel form. Create custom dowels of any length to perfectly match a project, or from a specific species of timber.
A wide range of 8 metric dowel sizes are provided: 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, 16, 18 and 20mm, suitable for projects big or small. To adjust the dowel size, simply use the supplied hex key to unscrew the locking bolt, rotate the cutting block to one of 8 pre-set positions, and then screw securely in place again. Begin by taking either square or rounded stock, slightly oversized, and put a chamfer on the leading end. Mount the stock into a drill chuck and drive the stock through the jig, maintaining a straight drilling motion.
The ultra sharp carbide blade cleanly shaves the wood to size, leaving a smooth, accurately sized dowel. Engineered for long lasting sharpness, the blade can simply be released with the supplied torx key and rotated to a fresh, unused edge once worn. Countersunk holes in the base are used with the supplied wood screws to fix the jig securely in place, keeping both hands free for drilling.
The jig body and blade holder are CNC machined from aluminium, beautifully finished with a black electro-coating for wear and corrosion resistance. Turn unused offcuts into strong wooden dowels for your next woodworking project. ©
