FULL DESCRIPTION
Extremely easy to master and control these carbide tip tools leave an incredibly smooth surface that requires minimal sanding. Unlike conventional turning tools that require a sweeping movement to ensure a smooth cut, these tools simply require you to advance or retract the tip as you move the tools across the tool rest. The wide flat face of the shaft sits flush against the tool rest, automatically presenting the cutter at the correct angle to the workpiece. The 11mm x 25mm diamond blade is manufactured from K10 carbide, which is extremely hardwearing, retaining its edge for longer even when working with hard and exotic woods. The blades are bevelled and will not clog in wet or resinous woods, ensuring a smooth and consistent finish to the workpiece. When the blade shows signs of wear simply rotate it around to an unused section to create a fresh edge.

The shafts of the tools are made from stainless steel, which is extremely durable and will not rust when in contact with wet or acidic wood. The full-size handles are ergonomically designed to allow for optimum grip and comfort and are made from a slow growing beech that has been selected for its straight grain, to ensure maximum strength. The shanks of the blades are buried deep into the beech handles and secured by a solid stainless steel ferrule.

The diamond tool is used as a small gouge and features double ended diamond shaped points that are excellent for adding narrow beads and coves. The diamond tool is commonly used when adding dovetail recesses for mounting chucks. It will leave a finished surface that is smooth, requiring minimal sanding. These are excellent full-size carbide tip woodturning tools. ©

I love these. Balance, design and sharp cutting

I love these. They have a good balance in your hand and feel robust enough to reduce vibration and give confidence when turning pieces of work. The handles have a good grip and I particularly like the square shaft which sits nicely on the tool rest, and for me at least helps maintain a good cutting angle. The tips are sharp and though I’ve not used them extensively, they’ve still maintained their edge through the many workpieces I’ve turned so far.

Shiny tools - what's not to like

Arrived very well packaged in their own padded cardboard tubes. Well made, solid handles and super shiny polished shafts. Carbide tips all in good condition and sharp. They look so good I'm going to order the hollowing tool set as well

Fantastic tools

I've been hmming & arring about some carbide wood turning tool since I first started turning several years ago, but when I saw these I decided to give them a go. Having bought numerous things from Rutlands in the past I knew the quality of the tools would be superb, and it is. These tools are effortless to use and cut very cleanly. The quality of the tools coupled with the excellent service Rutlands provide means I will be buying from them again.

Great tool for the money

It's described as a full sized tool but the carbide tip is only 11mm and the over all size of this tool is equivalent to a mid size tool from other brands. Bare this in mind if you're after a big carbide roughing tool akin to the easy wood tools full sized rougher.

The tool is really nice to use. The square shaft is a great feature at this price point and the handles is crafted from beech and is well balanced. This is a really good tool for the money.
