FULL DESCRIPTION
This dovetail jig will guide you through the process of making strong, flush fitting dovetail joints with zero complication. Tackle these notoriously difficult to cut joints with complete confidence and take your woodworking projects to the next level. This kit includes everything you need to produce elegant through, half-blind, rebated half-blind dovetails and finger joints with ease. Clamp and cut both workpieces at the same time to create perfectly matching male and female dovetail cuts in one smooth operation.

Constructed from heavy gauge steel the body of this jig provides a strong, stable base that can either be clamped or screwed to your workbench. Requiring little assembly, and the minimum amount of setting up you can be producing professional quality joints in minutes. Two strong lever action clamps operate on a cam lock action to quickly and rigidly grip both the horizontal and vertical workpieces. Each clamp bar features a coarse sandpaper strip on the underside to enhance the grip and ensure that the stock does not move during routing.

Included with 2 interchangeable templates, one will produce half-blind dovetails and the other will create through dovetails and finger joints. Each template is precision CNC machined from thick aluminium for a stable platform that will not bend or flex during use. Ergonomically designed, this jig features a built in stabilising bar for you to rest your router on during use, taking the strain out of balancing your heavy router on the template.

For standard through dovetails, the thickness of the tail stock should be between 8mm to 25mm, and for the pin stock between 8mm and 19mm. For standard half-blind dovetails, stock should be between 12.7mm and 28mm in thickness. When routing standard box joints stock should be between 8mm and 28mm in thickness. The wide body of the jig will accept boards of up to 300mm in width.

This dovetail jig comes with a dust extraction unit, fitted to the underside of the jig with a 38mm dust extraction port. Dust and chips are gathered at the source, allowing you to work safer and more efficiently and produce a better finish on your cuts. A 63mm to 38mm dust port adaptor is included to increase the opening size to 2-½" in order to connect to an existing vacuum style dust extractor. Included in this kit are a 1/2" shank straight cutting bit, a 1/2" shank dovetail bit, two locking nuts, two guide bushes and a full instructional guide. Replacement dovetail and straight bits are available under the following part numbers - R5776 for 1/2" routers or R5777 and R5546 for 1/4" routers. ©

High quality item

very good jig and after a few try's had excellent results with some scrap pine. There are a few errors in the instructions which made things difficult, specifically the section on through dovetails has tails and pins mixed up. In general the instructions are not great, had to do a lot of Youtubing to find a similar jig to try and work it out. If I were to change anything it would be the alignment groves in the templates and the depth stop (still have no idea how that is meant to work. other than that its a precision built bit of kit. I didnt use a backing board hence a small amount of tear out and my router base is not see through which make it even harder

Dovetails made easier

I've been considering a dovetail jig for a while then saw this on offer and don't regret buying it. As people have said put the effort into setting it up and the results come. I've only used it for half blind dovetails at the moment on pressure treated timber for garden planters and found that a minor trim (with a knife or chisel) of the tails is required for a really good fit, otherwise it feels like the tails will break off when tapping the joint together. It would be good if a different size template and cutter were available. I think a small insert would be a good addition between the router rest and the template at the ends over the support brackets because you can catch the aluminium if you go too far across or supply a deeper guide bush.

Great bit of kit

Feel like I have wasted my time learning how to cut dovetails by hand as this jig made it look easy it took a grand total of 20mins from opening the box to doing its first test cut well impressed!!!! If I would say there was room for improvement it would be nice if they offered a mini dovetail adapter but that’s it really

This is a very comprehensive jig I can tell a lot ...

This is a very comprehensive jig I can tell a lot of thought has gone into it, all I needed was my router and a small amount of patience to get everything set up correctly. I opted to clamp the jig to my bench as I didn't want to damage my table top but everything was very secure. The supplied router bits are of an excellent quality and cut very nicely into end grain, with very little cleaning up needed afterwards. Ive only used the half blind template so far but I'm really impressed with the joints its produced.

I have now made six sets of through dovetail drawe...

I have now made six sets of through dovetail drawers in tulip wood with this jig. Set up is relatively simple albeit I tested on some scrap wood first to ensure the joints matched. Build quality is good and the templates are smooth and precise. Locking levers are powerful and the wood stays still under pressure. Overall very happy.
