FULL DESCRIPTION
This silicone free wax significantly reduces the friction between wood and machine tables. By reducing the effort needed to push wood through a machine it allows for greater control and improved safety. This anti friction wax is commonly used on cast iron and aluminium surfaces such as planer beds, saw benches and router tables. When used regularly it will reduce corrosion and by applying pressure the wax will clean residue from the machine surface.

Being silicone free it will not mark or penetrate the workpiece. It is favoured by cabinet makers for use on tooling such as circular saw blades, router bits and spindle moulder tooling to give an improved cutting performance. To apply simply use a rag and apply pressure in a circular motion to the work surface. Made in the UK to a unique formulation this wax is supplied in an extra large 400g tin measuring 120mm diameter by 70mm depth. ©

Renovation of planer thicknesser.

I recently took delivery of my upgraded planer thicknesser, 26 years old but with very little use .
It had been unused and a bit neglected for years so the beds and unplated parts had suffered with some corrosion, Rutlands machine wax did a great job of helping to remove the rust and renovating the beds whilst leaving a protective film and low friction surface.

Rutlands Premium Machine Tool Wax

I’ve recently started using the Rutlands own-brand Premium Machine Tool Wax across all of my workshop machines, and I’ve been genuinely impressed with how well it performs. It applies easily, buffs out cleanly, and immediately gives a noticeable improvement to how material glides across the work bed. Even on heavier stock, the reduction in friction is obvious.

I’ve applied it to my table saw, router table, bandsaw, planer, thicknesser and pillar drill, and the results have been consistently excellent. My router table is an MDF top finished with oil, and even over that surface—plus the aluminium router lift—the wax has made a huge difference. The workpiece moves smoothly, with far less drag, and the finish feels noticeably more refined.

It’s also worth mentioning the seasonal benefit: this time of year, when condensation can form overnight on metal tool beds, a coat of this wax is providing a useful protective barrier. Since applying it, I’ve seen none of the light surface dulling or early corrosion that can appear if the machines are left unprotected in cold, damp weather.

Overall, this is a simple, effective product that enhances machine performance and adds some welcome protection on top. For the price, it’s been excellent across every tool I’ve tried it on.
