FULL DESCRIPTION
This digital three in one tool has been specifically designed for woodworkers who will need to mark perfect straight lines on their stock, set blade or router bit heights, or the distance from the router or table saw fence, and even measure mortice depths. The large rectangular face of the gauge gives a solid platform against the workpiece edge, to aid stability when marking. Designed with a large and easily readable LCD display, the innovative tool has three settings of measurements: millimetres, inches or fractions, each with extraordinary accuracy displayed in increments of 0.01mm, 0.005" and 64ths of fractions.

The hardened alloy wheel marking gauge is significantly recognised as being more accurate than its pin counterpart, which tends to wander with the grain of the wood. The wheel will slice through and over the grain to help mark a perfectly straight line in your stock, making it equally as ideal for the amateur and professional woodworker. The adjustable depth stop allows for mortice depths to be measured. Once the depth is found, the stop enables you to mark a consistent measurement on all your mortices, for increased precision. With the mortice depth stop removed, the tool can be used for a whole range of height and depth measuring and even as a digital ruler. Its squared design makes it self-standing for an ease of use and its robust, aluminium finish gives the unit a sturdy construction and professional aesthetics.

The shatterproof polycarbonate screen surrounds house a 3V CR2032 battery, which comes included, and also makes the unit humidity and dust resistant to test IP54. Measuring 240mm in length, this three in one digital wheel marking, height and depth gauge is a necessity for every woodworker. ©

Digital marking gauge

My eyes are getting old so I purchased this to make accuracy easier and it certainly does that.
It feels like a quality tool.
The only downside is that there isn’t a fine adjustment wheel to make it easier to dial in the exact distance. You can under or over shoot the desired reading.

I am registered blind and a woodworker, for years,...

I am registered blind and a woodworker, for years, I've relied on steel straight edges and blades to mark out / scribe boards, etc, but it's always left me finding myself in the position of lacking accuracy. This is where this digital scribe comes in, ok it doesn't have Bluetooth which I wish it had to send data to a speaking phone, but, this works with a device called an OrCam Read, a speaking OCR scanner, reads out displays, etc and changes my life on a daily basis. not only can I feel the markings I'm making for a project, but also with the ORCAM Readsmart, the display can be spoken out. Tools like this give me freedom to achieve what I want to and I'm really pleased that this works for me. So you understand, all I see is pure black, so I'm very tactile with what I do, the tools I rely on, etc. What I like about this scribe is the reliable build quality, a positive locking to ensure the scribe wheel stays where it is, etc. So you understand whilst writing this review, I use a mac with a screen reader called VoiceOver which speaks out text and gives me independence in what I do each day. I can't thank Rutlands enough for an amazing shopping experience. The plan is to at some point purchase other digital gauges to help with my needs.

This is really solid and well made. So far I've used it both for marking and as a depth gauge. It is excellent for both. The wheel is nice and sharp, the digital display large and clear and overall, this is a quality tool.

I was in the market for the analogue version of this tool, the Laban one, but it's been out of stock for ages. I have a number of digital measures doing different things and they can be a little light weight, not this one though. It has a real solid hefty feel=confidence in the hand, good price even for an unbranded tool

A sturdy piece of kit that is accurate, easy to use with the wheel being far superior to the old fashion spike on the manual version. Unlike the sliding bevel which cannot be zeroed this gauge is easy to zero.
