FULL DESCRIPTION
Designed to be used with the dovetail jaws this faceplate ring allows you to securely attach bowl blanks and as such eliminates the need for separate faceplates. You simply screw the ring using woodscrews to your bowl blank and then expand the dovetail jaws to grip into the machined dovetail groove in the rear of the faceplate ring. Dependant on the diameter, weight and balance of your bowl blank you can use between three and eight of the screw hole locations.

The faceplate ring is machined from a special grade of medium-tensile steel, which is normally used for the manufacture of high performance turbo impellors, pistons and gears. Using this steel allows for closer tolerances during the manufacturing process which results in excellent concentricity to minimize vibration and to ensure that a chatter-free, super fine finish can be achieved by the woodturner. ©

Faceplate review.

Having learned to turn on a rather old inherited lathe (avon time cub) for 4 years I upgraded my lathe over lockdown. Using all the money I'd saved on petrol by not driving to work and eating Greg's for breakfast,McDonald's for lunch and maybe kfc for tea. Anyway I digress, this is a review of a circle of metal not my awful eating habits! So I upgraded my lathe to a record power coronet herald. It arrived 2 weeks late! I should add, jumping around excitedly with my 2 dogs at every white van that drove into our culdesac! I had misunderstood the tpi of the posh Robert sorry patriot Chuck I had for the original tyme cub. I grabbed a Rutland Chuck set in the correct tpi, and was amazed at how good it was , the chuck itself and the many jaws too. I grabbed another faceplate ring recently as I wanted another for when the piece I'm working on has a hissy fit and decides its needs c.a glue or similar and I have other stock I could be turning while the glue is drying. Works really well! I don't believe I have to this point,(touch wood) ever had a piece fly off the lathe across the workshop and smash my coffee cup or direct to the faceshield while mounted on the faceplate ring on the chuck. Wish me luck tomorow! I could sing the praises further of the chuck itself but I bought that pre new website, however have been running it for 3 years now without complaint. A lot of bang for the buck especially in comparison to other brands out there at an affordable price.
