Router Sign Making Kit with Router

This router sign making kit with 1/4" router includes everything that you need to make beautiful signs. You can make horizontal, vertical and curved signs using either letters or numbers, or you can use a combination of both, with no limitation to the length or depth of the sign. The kit comes with six templates, four with letters (A - Z) and two with numbers (1 - 9), a phenolic router base plate with self-centering tool, 13mm solid brass guide bush and an 8.5mm TCT router bit with 1/4" shank. The templates are made from 6mm deep impact resistant polycarbonate that absorbs vibration and will not flex or bow during use. The letters and numbers measure 70mm in height and are in the clean, modern Arial Rounded bold font which features rounded corners to allow the guide bush to move smoothly around the inner edges.

The precision router has been carefully engineered to provide a high quality and enjoyable routing experience. The powerful 710W high torque motor generates an impressive output of 580W allowing you to tackle the toughest of hardwoods with confidence. Featuring a variable speed control dial, the motor speed can be adjusted from 13,000 to 33,000 rpm. This precision router has also been designed for quiet and vibration free operation further enhancing the safety and comfort of the user. The router comes supplied with 1/4" and 3/8" collets, and dust collection is handled with the included dust nozzle which fastens securely to the base, collecting dust at the source, close to the router bit. This keeps the working area clean, maintaining the quality of your cuts for the best possible results. Also included is an adjustable side fence to guide the router parallel to the edge of the work and a spare set of motor brushes.

You will need to fit the phenolic base plate to the router which is simply a case of using the self-centering tool to centre the base to the router and then drilling the base to match the screw holes in the router. To make your sign, you mark out in pencil your wording, spacing the letters accordingly. Once you are happy with the pencil layout, set the plunge depth of your router to 2mm, securely clamp the template to your workpiece and rout out the first letter in a clockwise direction, making sure the guide bush remains in contact with the template for the duration of the pass. Once the first letter is complete, remove the clamps and place the required template over the next sketched letter.
