This bench grinder will grind, sharpen, polish and buff tools and has both a flexible rotary shaft for drilling, deburring and grinding, and a reciprocating handpiece for intricate carving, chiselling and texturing. Its dimension and scale allow for fine and detailed work to be carried out with precision and accuracy. The whisper quiet, high torque, motor has variable speed control from 3,000 to 10,000rpm for setting the correct rotational speed for the application. Mounted on a heavy cast base with a steel frame it has substantial mass to dampen vibration to minimal levels and does not need securing to the workbench.
The bench grinder is fitted with a 75mm aluminium oxide wheel, which is fast cutting to remove nicks, shape a basic edge and sharpen and a fibre wheel for cleaning and deburring. To convert to a bench polisher for fine honing and polishing you simply remove the wheels and attach the two tapered spindles. You then screw on the two 75mm felt polishing wheels, reduce the rotational speed and commence polishing and honing.
The 925mm rotary shaft threads on to the main drive spindle and features a three jaw chuck which will secure rotary tools and drill bits with 1mm to 4mm diameter shanks. The reciprocating handpiece transforms the flexishaft’s rotary movement into a back and forth reciprocating stroke, allowing intricate carving, chiselling and texturing. Ideal for the model maker, fine woodworker and wood carver, the handpiece includes 3 blades: a 12mm flat chisel, 9mm gouge and 10mm V-shaped tool. Each blade is engineered from a high-grade Japanese bi-metal for long lasting sharpness and extra-long tool life. Recommended operating speeds are 1,000-8,000rpm.

Fantastic little product. Great for wood carving. The reciprocating arm will replace my dremel, and it's so much quieter than my dremel. My range of accessories will fit -up to 4mm. I was able to put a new edge on my Swiss Army knife and some chisels. My main need was for wood carving and the 3 included chisel were better than expected at this price. The only disappointing feature was the instruction book which was rubbish- both pictures and text. Luckily it's a user friendly construction and so, easy to work out the build. I really recommend this product.
I bought the mini grinder to use as a bench mounted flexible drive. I really was pleasantly surprised at the quality of it. It seems a sturdy piece of kit, that should have plenty other uses besides my original idea. I will probably use the buffing and polishing wheels more than the grinder, but always useful to have a grinder option too. Well done Rutlands!
On opening the box I was impressed at the compact size of this mini-grinder, but once I got it all set up and switched on, I have to say that both the stability and power impressed me even more! Having bought this on sale and wanting something with a bit more 'oomph' than my Dremel (which the flexi shaft certainly provides), i can say this has ticked all the boxes. I don't really need a full size grinder and the versatility of this machine, with options to grind edge tools, buff small wooden or metal items (with either the included buffing wheels or with the flexi-shaft, using a buffing attachment secured in the chuck), is a fantastic addition to my shop. Highly recommended if you're wanting something that does all these things, but with a smaller footprint on your bench.
This machine is so quiet. It’s easy to use and is put together exceptionally well. The price was so low, I thought it would be rubbish but it’s not. The only difficulty I have is attaching the auxiliary flexible rotary shaft, but that’s probably due to my fingers. Great machine and I love it.
Everything arrived well packed. The machine is nicely made and quiet in operation. I could not find any manual of instructions and left a request for support to deal with the issue. The responded by return and I received my PDF copy. As I was cutting up the box and the packing, I discovered the manual which had slipped between the box and the packing material. I am not a fan of cross head screws, especially where they are quite a shallow cross. I find they cam out very easily. I exchanged all of the screws for stainless Allen key cap heads. I feel this is an improvement and I am very happy with the performance of this machine.
