FULL DESCRIPTION
This honing guide makes the honing of chisels and plane irons fast, accurate and consistent. The body of the guide is manufactured from two precision-machined alloy die castings which are finished in a hard wearing epoxy powder paint and are connected by a threaded shaft and two steel rods. The guide has two clamping positions and can handle a wide range of blades from fine detail wood chisels through to wide smoothing plane irons. The lower clamp will hold blades from 3mm to 50mm and the upper clamp will hold blades from 35mm to 90mm.

Creating the correct angle to hone and sharpen is simple; to create a 30° bevel edge the blade must protrude by 30mm and to set a 25° bevel angle the blade needs to protrude by 40mm. Once set you run the guide smoothly back and forth on the sharpening stone. This premium honing guide is extremely well finished and will allow for precise, consistent, repeatable honing and sharpening. ©

I just got my diamond sharpening plate 600/1000 grit and honing guide.I've never used one before, which is why my chisels are soo poor. I've mangled them previously!!Simple to use, and even for a honing virgin, I got a good result. I would recommend watching a video online, as it was very informative, to me anyway.I've one sharpened, beautifully, I might add, (rare for me, lol) 8 more to go, and I highly recommend these two items. 10/10. Another winner from Rutlands.

This honing guide is really well made and so easy to use to get accurate and repeatable results. I thought my tools were sharp until I started using this, it takes all the guesswork out of sharpening and sits stable in use, even with a narrow blade. A 'must have' bit of kit to keep tools super sharp.
